antiMusic reports: Ignore that story from earlier this week where the whole Gorgoroth name dispute appeared to be settled in the favor of Infernus. That story was based on a statement from Regain Records. However, Norwegian authorities have reportedly come to a different conclusion all together.First off here is part of the statement this label issues earlier this week: Regain "Records recognizes Infernus as the rightful owner of the bands name, logo and trademark, and is prepared to take any legal steps necessary to prevent any 3rd part from exploiting it, artistically and commercially. " However, according to Metal Underground: King Ov Hell (real name: Tom Cato Visnes) and Gaahl (real name: Kristian Eivind Espedal) from the Norwegian black metal band Gorgoroth have issued the following statement: "Norwegian authorities at Patentstyret (Norwegian patent office) have made the verdict on the dispute over the further use of the trademark and logo 'GORGOROTH.' It has been legally determined that King and Gaahl retain the rightful ownership and use of the name and logo, now and in the future. "King and Gaahl will not give a detailed public statement on this verdict however they have both remained confident this result would indeed be the final conclusion. Any third parties who use the name GORGOROTH will from now on be met with legal prosecution.

PR reports: Steve Poltz, the only tunesmith ever to write songs with both Mojo Nixon and Jewel, is back with Traveling, a new album that once again defies category and blurs musical boundaries. The CD is set for release on January 22, 2008 on 98 Pounder Records (through Thirty Tigers), distributed by RED Distribution. Poltz will immediately hit the tour trail, not giving in to sleet, ice, or snow. On the date the new album hits the streets, Poltz will celebrate its release with a show at Joe's Pub in New York. Next is a show near his hometown of San Diego, at the Belly Up in nearby Solana Beach, on January 24. The following night he's off to Los Angeles, then up the Cali coast, and then cross-country through the Midwest and South en route to Virginia and New York state. Poltz will also be an omnipresence in Austin in mid-March with an official SXSW showcase plus several other "unofficial" appearances that week.

PR reports: On March 4, UK electronic rock act Temposhark celebrates the North American release of its critically acclaimed debut album The Invisible Line. A massive hit on London's Uber fashionable electro scene (Bjork, Placebo and Darren Hayes are notable fans), Temposhark creates a slick and sexy sound comprised of synthesised pop, underground electronica, angst rock and film score soundscapes. Add an unforgettable live show into the mix and you're looking at an act that brings the complete package. Comprised of art and fashion aficionado Robert Diament on vocals (previously worked for Banksy and other influential graffiti artists), Luke Busby on synths, Mark Ferguson on bass and Mathis Richet on drums, Temposhark have seduced the British alternative scene in both the seediest clubs (Nag Nag Nag / Electrogogo / Kashpoint /Computer Blue) and the rockiest live venues (Barfly / Marquee / Koko). They already have a strong US fan base thanks to support from KCRW, a successful USA debut at SXSW 2007 and a jam-packed club tour. In fact, 80% of sales coming from Temposhark's previous singles, remixes and EPs came from North America.

Blabbermouth reports: For the rest of the year we are going to be looking back at the most read articles from the past year. Today we feature the biggest story from March where the Crock Hall and David Lee Roth had a bit of a problem. Here is the story: Geoff Boucher of the Los Angeles Times reports that David Lee Roth, VAN HALEN's frontman for the band's first decade, said Thursday (March 8) he will not attend the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony because event officials have turned down his repeated overtures to perform.
The Van Halens have been in lock-down mode since their plans for a summer reunion tour with Roth collapsed last month. Roth said he last spoke to Eddie Van Halen's camp a week ago, and he said he could not determine the truth about reports that the guitarist is seeking help for alcohol problems. "Ed is indisposed and working toward a better future here," Roth said. "If Ed ever dries up, this is going to be a stadium act, man.... What's happening here with this [New York event] is part and parcel of the same spiral that screwed up the tour." [we know that all worked out!]
