antiMusic reports: Atlanta noise rockers Deerhunter
became the hunted Friday night at their homecoming gig. The band had just
concluded a performance at Lenny's in Atlanta when lead singer Bradford
Cox and guitarist Lockett Pundt were robbed at gunpoint.
Cox described what happened on his blog:
We got a friendly homecoming surprise last night in Atlanta when Lockett
and I got robbed at gunpoint after our show at Lenny's last night. We literally
had just walked off the stage and I was pretty wasted. Lockett was trying
to take care of me and get me home. He grabbed my guitar and my stuff and
we walked to his car which was parked about a block away from Lenny's because
it was so crowded. I heard a commotion behind us but like I said I was
pretty out of it. I just opened the door to the car and collapsed in the
passenger seat. Then I heard all this yelling and I hear this loud metallic
banging on the window and look up and there is a gun in my face and a guy
yelling "get the f*ck out the car man"
I stumbled out and see the other guy has
Lockett with his arms spread on the roof of his car and is patting him
down. Lockett was begging them to leave me alone. The guy put his gun up
to my temple and said "give me EVERYTHING motherf**ker I aint f**king with
you" - more

which took place at the Key Club in Hollywood on Saturday night.
Izzy Stradlin and Duff McKagan joined Steven
Adler's band (Adler's Appetite) during their set to perform "Mr. Brownstone"
and "Paradise City". There are some reports that Slash attended the event
but did not join the band on stage. We were supposed to attend the event
but due to unforeseen circumstance we were unable to so we can not give

antiMusic reports: The man that shot Kinks
frontman Ray Davies is off the hook after the singer failed to show up
for a court date. A second time Davies has failed to appear according to
the BBC. So instead of singing "you really got me" to authorities, Jerome
Barra is now a free man.
Barra was charged with armed robbery and
aggravated battery after shooting Davies in the leg in 2004. According
to reports, Davies was in New Orleans on vacation when two men snatched
his girlfriend's purse and the singer gave chase before Barra shot him
in the leg.
Davies told New Orleans' Times-Picayune
that he was unable to attend court because he was not given enough notice
by prosecutors.- more

antiMusic reports: KISS had to play as a trio
last week after Paul Stanley had heart trouble. The masked rocker suffered
what is known as tachycardia where the heart beats at an unusually high
rate. In Stanley's case it was beating twice as fast as normal.
"My heart spontaneously jumped to 190 plus
beats per minute, where it stayed for over an hour necessitating paramedics
to start an IV and give me a shot to momentarily stop my heart and get
it into a normal pattern," Stanley wrote on his site. The American Heart
Assoc lists a normal "at rest" heart beat as between 60 and 80 beats per
minute.- more

antiMusic reports: The Offspring have officially
parted ways with drummer Atom Willard. The veteran OC punks have recruited
former Alkaline Trio, Face To Face, Saves the Day member Pete Parada to
take his place, according to a post on their official website.
Pete Parada will make his debut with the
band when they hit Japan for the Summer Sonic festival on August 11, 12
and 14th. The news of the lineup change comes after a false start earlier
this year when it was widely reported that Atom had left the group, only
to be contradicted with reports that he was still very much a part the
Offspring. There will be life after the Offspring for Atom as he'll reportedly
focus all of his energy on his other band, Angels and Airwaves. But remains
a friend of the band, according to their website.
Neither Parada or Willard will appear on
the forthcoming Offspring album. According to their website Josh Freese
(NIN, Vandals, Devo) has recorded all the drum tracks-

antiMusic reports: The battle for New Order
is underway as the former bass player has threatened to sue his ex-bandmates
if they carry on with the band. Peter Hook fired the first shot in the
battle when he announced that the band had broken up. Not so, said singer
Bernard Sumner and drummer Stephen Morris earlier this month in a statement.
And Hook has responded with a threat of legal action.
Hook took to his Myspace blog on Friday
to respond to Sumner and Morris statement that the band was still very
much together. Under the heading of "Disappointment!" Hook wrote, "Well
im here at last with my statement! im travellin round america at the moment

cult rockers The Bottom of the Hudson Sunday night as they headed home
after concluding an east coast tour. Bassist Trevor Butler was killed after
the tire blew out in the van the band was traveling in and drummer Greg
Lytle is currently in the ICU at a North Carolina hospital.
The band's label, Absolutely Kosher Records,
issued the following statement: Philadelphia/Brooklyn band Bottom of the
Hudson suffered a serious van wreck on Sunday, July 29th, while returning
home after the final date of a short East Coast tour to promote their new
album, Fantastic Hawk, released just two weeks ago on July 17. While on
I-40 near Clinton, NC, a tire blew out sending the van out of control and
flipping it multiple times. Bassist Trevor Butler was killed in the accident
and drummer Greg Lytle is currently in ICU in Chapel Hill, NC. The other
members of the band, Eli Simon, Michael Prince and William Chesterton Chambers,
suffered minor injuries and were released from the hospital.-

antiMusic reports: Former Adler's Appetite
vocalist Sheldon Tarsha made some pretty outrageous claims about former
Guns N' Roses drummer Steven Adler during an interview on The Classic Metal
Show last Saturday. Among the claims is that Adler's "wanna be gangster"
bodyguards hold the drummer hostage.
"(Steven's) brother and his new 'manager'
hired these thug gangster guys that are cholo-like wannabe gangster dudes
to watch over Steven," Tarsha said in the interview according to BW&BK.
"They are telling me stories about how they've got him handcuffed to the
wall and to the furniture in his own house. They won't even uncuff him
to go to the bathroom, so you've got Steven Adler sh*tting and pissing
his own pants. They're abusing the guy. They're abusing him, dudes. I don't
support what they're doing, and I told them that.
"The way I found that out was this guy
(the new 'manager') called me up, and he's telling me, 'Yeah, I had to
keep Steven in line. I had to handcuff him until he sh*t his own pants'.
I'm like, 'are you kidding me, dude?' I'm like, 'That's not cool'. Steven
lost control of his life a long time ago, and he's lost even more control
of it now. The problem is that he can't control himself, so he looks to
the people around him to tell him what to do, to tell him how to think,
to tell him what he should do. That's the problem right now. He screws
people over based on the information he's getting from the people that
are supporting him... or not supporting him. He's like a puppet. He has
the name. He has the fame. He has the money, and he's easily influenced
by whoever is closest to him. That's really what I think is going on right
now. "
That's just the tip of the iceburg you
can listen to the interview- more

antiMusic reports: A Ted Nugent fan was beaten
during the gonzo rocker's performance Friday night at the Chicago Ridge's
Ridgefest. Jim Volpe was taking photos and video with his camcorder when
another man challenged him about the taping. It quickly devolved into assault
when Volpe refused to turn over his camera.
"This guy, out of nowhere, just walked
up and said, 'Give me the camera,' " Volpe told Chicago Daily Southtown.
Volpe told the man that he would give him the tape but not his $600 camera
and the man responded, "It's too late for that now" and put Volpe in a
headlock while Volpe's girlfriend grabbed the camcorder. She ran away when
the man dropped Volpe and looked at her.
Volpe spent five hours in the emergency
room of Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn for treatment of neck and back
injuries.- more

antiMusic reports: Up until now if you wanted
to download "Highway to Hell" or "Let Me Put My Love Into You," you've
been forced to do it illegally. That is no longer the case as AC/DC has
inked an exclusive deal with Verizon Wireless to sell their catalog online.
There are a couple of catches. First you
will only find digital AC/DC through Verizon VCast Music service for PCs.
And you can't pick and choose which songs you want, you have to buy the
full albums at about $12 each according to Billboard. The one exception
being "You Shook Me All Night Long" which you can download to your cell
phone.- more

antiMusic reports: The race is on! Who will
release their long overdue album first? The Eagles or Guns N' Roses? According
to Billboard it looks like The Eagles may beat Axl and company to the punch
as they are wrapping up work on their first studio album since "The Long
Run" which hit in 1979.
Joe Walsh told Billboard that fans should
expect something different from the new album with writing input from each
member. The line up these days include Walsh, Glenn Frey, Don Henley and
Timothy B Schmit. Notice a name that is curiously absent? -

Hecklerspray reports: When you're famous,
people think that they own you - or, more specifically, they think they
own your husband's balls, as Faith Hill realised this weekend when a female
concert-goer got all grabby on her husband Tim McGraw's nicknacks.
When a ballsy female concertgoer reached
out and grabbed Tim McGraw's nether regions Saturday at the Cajundome in
Lafayette, Louisiana, his missus [Faith Hill] told the errant fan in no
uncertain terms that that sort of behavior is frowned upon in them there
parts
"Somebody needs to teach you some class,
my friend," a finger-wagging Hill told the woman. "You don't go grabbin'
somebody else's, somebody's husband's balls, you understand me? That's
very disrespectful!"

antiMusic reports: Kevin Lyman have published
an open letter to Sharon Osbourne following their recent conversation about
Ozzfest, according to Punkbands. Lyman made headlines last week when he
was quoted in newspaper article slamming Ozzfest. Here is the text of the
open letter: Dear Sharon, Good speaking with you just now. Per our discussion,
I wanted to apologize if any of my comments quoted in the Kansas Star News
were taken out of context or based on misinformation I was given. It was
not my intent to discredit Ozzy or your family in any way.
If Ozzy is in fact working for expenses
only, then I was wrong in saying he was out for one more paycheck. I'll
be the first to say I should not bother myself with other tours and keep
my nose in my own projects as they have been keeping me busy enough as
it is. For that, I'm sorry- more
