Beck Delay
Aversion reports: He's a loser, baby,
at least when it comes to getting his albums on shelves on time.
Beck's next album, which was originally
planned for an October release, has been pushed back to 2005 because Beck
hadn't finished work on it. Because of his label, Interscope's, heavy fall
release schedule -- which features releases by U2 and a Nirvana boxed set
-- Beck fans must wait until a calmer quarter to hear from the singer.

Top Rock Deaths
Blabbermouth reports: The Associated Press
is reporting that Cliff Burton (METALLICA), Randy Rhoads (OZZY OSBOURNE),
John Bonham (LED ZEPPELIN) and Kurt Cobain (NIRVANA) are among the musicians
that made Maxim magazine's list of rock stars that have been the most "rock-starrish"
even in death.
Cobain's suicide just makes the list at
number 25.
Interestingly, number seven on the death
list isn't even deceased — MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx makes
the list because he was technically dead for two minutes after a heroin
overdose. [see full story to see who was no. 1]- Click

Amen Lose Guitarist
Blabbermouth reports: AMEN guitarist Matt
Montgomery has quit the band, branding the group's leader Casey Chaos "a
fraud."
In a statement posted at the Metal Hammer
web site, Matt writes, "If I joined AMEN to be famous or be a 'rock star',
I joined for the wrong reasons. I joined it purely for an intense love
and passion for what Casey Chaos led me to believe he stood for.
"I had two AMEN tattoos before I joined,
and moved myself to L.A. to join one of my favorite bands. Now after 2
long years I can say I've had enough and learned a hard lesson.
"I've made a lot of friends and had some
great experiences which I'm grateful for. However, living on just under
2800 dollars (that is my full take-home pay) from over two years has put
me in extreme debt, and caused so many problems for me.[see full story

Pearl Jam Fake Busted
Blabbermouth reports: TheDenverChannel.com
is reporting that a man who claimed to be a guitarist for PEARL JAM was
arrested in Denver Wednesday after a suspicious fan found a story about
the scam on TheDenverChannel.com.
The man's undoing started Wednesday when
he walked into the Wells Fargo in Cherry Creek North, saying he was Mike
McCready, with the band PEARL JAM, and was setting up an account for his
mother, who was moving to Denver.
Witnesses said the man then claimed the
band was doing a benefit concert this weekend at Red Rocks and he was selling
tickets worth $1,000 for only $20. A bank employee called her husband,
who is a PEARL JAM fan, and the husband called a friend in Seattle, Wash.
The friend in Seattle mentioned that he
remembered reading a story about a PEARL JAM ticket scam on the Internet
and a Google news search pulled up the original story on TheDenverChannel.com.
The husband then called his wife to give her the news and she called police.[see

NME reports: One of the most prolific
songwriters of the 20th century has teamed up with DR DRE to bring some
‘cutting edge’ to his music.
The hip-hop producer has created the beats
to three tracks on Burt Bacharach’s next album, which is due for release
in 2005.
Bacharach - who has a songwriting career
of over 50 years – told the Denver Post: "It's a challenging, freeing feeling
to take an existing format — like these rigid, four-bar loops — and to
see what you can write on top of it."
He added: "It's hard and challenging too,
because it does have some restrictions." [see full story for more]-

AP reports: Israel was abuzz with excitement
Wednesday over the arrival of Madonna, its biggest celebrity visitor in
years. The pop star came to the Holy Land on a spiritual quest, including
visits to the graves of revered rabbinical sages.

diva's interest in the esoteric Jewish mysticism called cabala or Kabbalah,
and rabbis said she had no business studying holy texts. [see full story

Busted Vs Cowell
Ananova reports: Busted have lashed out
at Simon Cowell and his new TV talent show The X Factor.
The chart-topping trio, responsible for
hits like Crashed the Wedding and What I Go to School For, accused Cowell's
ITV1 show of "making a mockery of the British music industry".
The X Factor sees Sharon Osbourne and Louis
Walsh join Cowell on the judging panel, and there is no upper age limit
on those who audition.
Busted frontman Charlie Simpson said: "I
just watched this and thought, 'This is most ridiculous thing I have ever
seen'."
He said: "It was like they were sat in
a meeting and thought, 'How can we make it more interesting, seeing as
we've had two bullsh*t Pop Idols that no one likes anymore?'." [see full

Something Corporate Spinoff
press release reports: Something Corporate
guitarist/songwriter, Josh Partington, has spent the summer fully developing
his side project “Firescape”. Known for crafting Something Corporate’s
staples including “Hurricane”, “Fall”, “Only Ashes” and North’s lead single,
the hit “Space”, this project was written, performed and produced by Partington
and is being engineered by long-time friend Kyle Homme (Sugarcult, Days
Away, Lit). When asked about the direction of the new band, Partington
stated ”The Firescape stuff definitely has a harder edge to it. I wouldn't
characterize it as hardcore or metal by any stretch of the imagination,
but it is certainly a hard rock album.”

Brazzaville
press release reports: Welcome to Brazzaville,
a compilation album of fifteen songs by Los Angeles band Brazzaville, will
be released Tuesday, November 2, 2004 on Mimicry Records. Upon discovering
Brazzaville’s catalog of three independently-distributed albums, Mimicry
opted to re-release the select tracks on Welcome to introduce the band
to a wider audience. Welcome to Brazzaville spans the band’s seven-year,
bi-continental career and culls fan favorites from the pretty multi-lingual
murmurings of 1998’s deceptively titled Brazzaville 2002, the guitar-heavy
straight-ahead rock of 2000’s Somnambulista and the smoky Brazilian-flavored
melodies of 2002’s gorgeous Rouge on Pockmarked Cheeks. The album also
includes two previously unreleased tracks, “Love Sky” and “Christmas in
E.C.,” which will not be available on any other records.[see full story
