(Radio.com) At a press conference in New York yesterday (July 25), the two remaining members of TLC–Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins and Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas–made a slew of big announcements, including the release of a greatest hits album that will include new songs — the first new music from the R&B group since their 2002 album, 3D.The as-yet-untitled compilation, due out October 15 on Epic Records, will feature new songs penned by Ne-Yo ("Meant To Be") and Lady Gaga, who wrote the song "Posh Life" with longtime TLC collaborator Dallas Austin. According to Billboard, the ladies also teased other possible collaborations with Drake and J. Cole, who recruited T-Boz and Chili for his song "Crooked Smile." "Not one artist has said no, and that's amazing and a blessing," T-Boz said about seeking out collaborators. "You know, we've been gone for a minute. But to see everyone coming to us like, 'Yo! We heard y'all working, I gotta be down!' That's amazing." The two women also announced that rapper Lil Mama would be filling in for the late Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes, who died in 2002, when they play the Mixtape Festival in Hershey, Pennsylvania on Saturday. The two asked the young rapper to join them after seeing her spot-on portrayal of Left Eye in the VH1 biopic, CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story, which also stars Keke Palmer and Drew Sidora. But they were both quick to point out that though they are in talks with Lil Mama for upcoming performances, she is not officially a member of TLC. "No one will ever be a member in this group," T-Boz said. "Ever." More including the trailer to the VH1 movie.

(Radio.com) This past May, Rock the Bells hip-hop tour founder Chang Weisberg ignited headlines and controversy with the announcement that this year's outing would feature a hologram of late rapper Ol' Dirty Bastard during headlining performances by the legendary Wu-Tang Clan (ideally with the blessing of the rapper's widow, who was initially surprised by the news). Now, the Wu-Tang Clan has revealed that previously unheard vocal performances by Ol' Dirty Bastard will be featured on the group's upcoming 20th anniversary album, tentatively titled A Better Tomorrow. "RZA has a bunch of Ol' Dirty tracks and verses that for years nobody's heard and, from my last conversation [with RZA], we're supposed to have an Ol' Dirty track on there," Wu-Tang Clan member Inspectah Deck told Line Of Best Fit in a recent interview. "It may be by itself or we might join it on to another song. But Ol' Dirty is going to be part of this album, that's a fact." "All I can tell you is that we're striving for that first essence, that first sound of Wu-Tang, that first voice, that first everything," added fellow Wu-Tang Clan rapper Masta Killa about the new album. "I don't think anybody's expecting us to do what everyone else is doing, but instead what we do. Because that's what's actually missing out there." more on this story

(Radio.com) When Robin Thicke was in the studio last summer with Pharrell Williams, he never imagined that they'd be creating a monster hit. "We felt like maybe it was something special but it was so different," Thicke told Radio.com earlier this year of his single "Blurred Lines." "We didn't know it would be this big."His first No. 1, this week "Blurred Lines" reigns at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the seventh time. The track has been at No. 1 longer than any other song this year on the chart, giving Thicke another reason to celebrate. Not only has "Blurred Lines" been hailed by many as the song of the summer, but his new album, of the same name, will drop next Tuesday (July 30). With the buzz that "Blurred Lines" has created, Thicke is grateful for all the attention he's been receiving. "What's changed about my image the most with the song is that people actually know who I am now," he said. "People in the business might have known about me here or there, but the average person wouldn't necessarily have known who I was or what my music was. When something this big happens, everybody goes, 'Hey, that's Robin Thicke!' That's cool." Thicke's release just may make him a household name. On Blurred Lines, Thicke enlisted the help of several producers including will.i.am, Timbaland and Dr. Luke. "I've always written and produced my own music. My last album didn't sell very well, in fact not at all," he confessed. "I thought to myself, 'Maybe I'm just being selfish and I want all the credit and I want everybody to love me and know how great I am and all this BS.' And then I realized, this time, I'm not going to do it all on my own, I'm going to hire some of the great hit makers in the business and try to make some music everybody can enjoy instead of just my small fan base." One of those hit-makers, Pharrell, was the mastermind behind "Blurred Lines." A lot more here.

(Radio.com) Peter Gabriel is finally getting some of that quid pro quo. Three years ago, the former Genesis singer released an album of covers called Scratch My Back, which featured Gabriel crooning his versions of songs by David Bowie, Neil Young, Lou Reed, Bon Iver, Randy Newman and more. Back then, the goal was for Gabriel to release companion album of those same artists covering his own songs. After a bit of a delay, an album of all-stars covering Peter Gabriel tunes will soon see the light of day. As Stereogum reports, the aptly titled And I'll Scratch Yours will be out September 23 on Gabriel's Real World label, featuring many of the same artists from Scratch My Back, including several songs that have already been released. You may have already heard Bon Iver's version of "Come Talk To Me," David Byrne's take on "I Don't Remember," or English rock band Elbow's spot-on cover of "Mercy Street." But new to the album will be a cover of "Games Without Frontiers" by Arcade Fire, Randy Newman covering "Big Time," as well as new takes from Feist, Brian Eno and more. Check out the artwork and the full tracklist for And I'll Scratch Yours here.

(Radio.com) Keith Urban revealed his new music video today for his single "A Little Bit of Everything." Like the song, the video is quirky and good-natured, built around an easygoing groove that's hard to dislike. Visually, it kicks off in a modest place, showing just Urban and his guitar in a hammock outside under the trees and sky.Quickly, though, things start turning a little odd. The sky turns out to be fake, the outside turns out to be inside, and the house he's in turns out to be situated on the 50-yard line of a football field. It's like he's inside some tripped-out, country-backroads take on The Truman Show (or maybe a less menacing version of M. Night Shyamalan's The Village). It gets weirder, too. As Urban sings "I don't need too much of nothing," he climbs onto a riding mower and begins cutting the grass of his football-field 'yard.' He then walks outside the stadium, passing through a tunnel out into rural setting where a black '70s-era Grand Prix awaits. Soon he's cruising a red-dirt road under an orange sky. And all this happens before he steps through yet another doorway to get the newspaper on yet another front doorstep. more on this story

I knew something bad had happened." The actress said she didn't find out about Cory's death until she saw it online. "I didn't find out until the next day, and actually I read it on Twitter. I saw where they said [he died] and I was like, 'Oh my gosh, that's what it was, that's what the ambulances were for!'" Andie said that though she and Cory did not have scenes together in the movie "Monte Carlo," she did meet him. "He was just a beautiful spirit and it's a great loss to those that knew him very well and all his fans all these people that adored him. It's just a huge loss." (Radio.com) Like many aspiring rappers, Kid Ink's first brush with notoriety was the result of a series of self-released mixtapes. That led to an independent full-length, 2012′s Up & Away, before the L.A. emcee signed with RCA for his major label debut, the Almost Home EP, released this past May. Featuring big, hook-laden tracks like "Time of Your Life" and "I Just Want it All," Kid Ink's sound is tailor-made for summertime radio play with the potential to crossover onto the pop charts, much like contemporaries (and past collaborators) Big Sean and Wale."I can't settle. I don't settle with just the same consistency…which is also something my fans don't settle for," Kid Ink told Radio.com. "They get bored when it's just the same consistent thing happening over and over and we already know what to expect next. As an independent artist after releasing Up & Away and it doing what it did in the first week and me being proud of it [the album debuted at No. 20, selling 20,000 copies in its first week], the next step I could take independently would have to only be a mixtape and then another independent album. That would probably take way longer than if I had the [major label] machine behind me and just the extra steroids to just push it and take it to the next level and take it further without changing the momentum or the quality or the consistency." Kid Ink's concern in immediately signing to a major label was retaining artistic control; that, in his words, "is why we stayed independent so long." His hard-earned sales from an indie release give him a bit more in way of freedom when it came time to sign. "I'm really just more concerned with the creative control and be able to do the same thing, but have them [RCA] do even more," in terms of promo reach. He's already found himself in good company with rap's current It-Boy, fellow L.A. native Kendrick Lamar. "Kendrick is doing a good job of showing that we were from the hood and we are from the hood," he said, "but with Good Kid, M.A.A.D City it makes sense, it was definitely something I grew up in." more on this story
