Glee Star Cory Monteith Died From Heroin and Alcohol Overdose
Glee star Cory Monteith, who was found dead on Saturday, was killed by an overdose of heroin and alcohol, according to the British Columbia Coroners Service.

The Vancouver Police Department published the following statement from the service on Tuesday, "Post-mortem testing, which included an autopsy and toxicological analysis, found that Mr. Monteith, aged 31, died of a mixed drug toxicity, involving heroin and alcohol.

"Mr. Monteith was found deceased in his room at the Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel in downtown Vancouver, British Columbia, shortly after noon on July 13. He had checked into the hotel on July 6 and had been expected to check out on the 13th. When he had not done so, hotel staff checked his room and found him deceased.

"The investigation into this death by the BC Coroners Service is continuing, and no other details are available at this time. It should be noted that at this point there is no evidence to suggest Mr. Monteith's death was anything other than a most-tragic accident. When the investigation is concluded, a Coroners Report will be issued.

"Mr. Monteith's family has been made aware of the circumstances surrounding the death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time."

"There were indications in the room that this was a drug overdose," Vancouver Police Department media relations officer Brian Montague said during a press briefing Tuesday afternoon, according to USA Today. "We're not providing exactly what we found at the scene. Anything that was found at the scene would be evidence."

Beyonce Reprimanding Fan At Recent Concert Caught on Video
Video footage of Beyonce reprimanding an audience member during a recent concert has been posted online. The pop star was upset after she spotted a fan filming her performance.

The incident happened during the Atlanta stop last Friday (July 12th) of the Mrs. Carter Show World Tour, according to NME who are currently streaming the video footage.

Beyonce became upset during a portion of the show where she asked fans to sing along with her song 'Irreplaceable' and she then spotted the fan filming her and called the man out.

"You can't even sing because you're too busy taping," she told the fan.
"You gotta seize this moment. Put that damn camera down!"

NME reports that she then knocked the device from the fan's hand and gets him to sing along with the track. "Yes, that's much better," she says. Watch video of the incident here.

Nigel Godrich Slams Radiohead's Manager For Defending Spotify
(Radio.com) One day after Thom Yorke and Nigel Godrich pulled Atoms For Peace's album Amok from Spotify citing the streaming service's lack of monetary support for new artists, Brian Message, who co-manages Radiohead, has come out in defense of the company.

Message told the BBC that he looks at new technology like Spotify as a good thing. "The Internet is a really cutting edge way for fans and artists to communicate," he said. "And we want to see that opportunity to develop and evolve."

As Yorke's manager, Message says the singer's disdain for the company made him take note, but that doesn't mean he agrees with his client's opinions.

"[Yorke's] rightly asking the question of, 'What's in this for new music and new artists?' I think we're all debating this," Message said. "[But] as the model gets bigger I think we'll find a place where artists and managers and all creators can all receive what they regard as equitable remuneration."

He added, "It's not black and white, it's a complicated area. There's been over 20 attempted reviews of copyright and how it operates in the internet era, and there's been no satisfactory solution to it."

But in the end, Message says as a manager he needs to be open to finding new ways to help his clients make money.

"The bottom line is, technology is here to stay, and evolution of technology is always going to go on," he said. "It's up to me as a manager to work with the likes of Spotify and other streaming services to best facilitate how we monetize those [platforms] for the artists we represent."

While Yorke has yet to address Message's comments, Godrich took to Twitter earlier today to say his peace, which included an allegation that Message has a financial stake in Spotify. Read the tweets here.

Lil Wayne Releases Controversial God Bless Amerika Video
(Radio.com) Last month, Lil Wayne faced controversy while filming the music video for the song "God Bless Amerika," which finally debuted on Monday night (July 15).

During the video shoot he received heat for stepping on the American flag when the flag, used as a backdrop, fell behind him. He continued the shoot, rapping along to the music while stepping on the flag unintentionally.

He cleared up the situation on Facebook, stating it was never his intention "to desecrate the flag of the United States of America."

"The clip that surfaced on the Internet was a camera trick clip that revealed that behind the American Flag was the Hoods of America. In the final edit of the video you will see the flag fall to reveal what is behind it but will never see it on the ground," he wrote. "In most people eyes including my own who were raised in that environment, the Hood is the only America they know and the only America I knew growing up. I was fortunate from my God giving talents to escape the Hood and see the other beautiful places this country has to offer but most people who are born in that environment don't get that chance. That's their view of their America. That was Dwayne M Carter from Hollygrove New Orleans view of America. That's who I'm speaking for in this song."

The Eif Rivera-directed video shows Weezy in his hometown performing and as he said, reflects on life in his hood. Standing at a mic stand in front of the American flag, a slow drumbeat is heard before Wayne begins to rap.

"My mind's filled with minefields/The ashes fall, the wine spills," he raps. "My country 'tis of thee/Sweet land of kill 'em all and let 'em die."

As the backdrop falls, a crowd of his former neighbors is revealed behind him. It was this scene that the original controversy arose. Once the flag dropped, Wayne stepped on the flag, unaware that he would soon be angering many Americans. More including the video.

Justin Bieber Teases New Song In Unusual Way
(Radio.com) He's been teasing it on Twitter for days and finally Justin Bieber gave the world a teaser of his latest single, "Heartbreaker." The catch? It's in the newly launched ad for his latest fragrance, The Key.

The 30-second snippet of the song reveals a listen to the dark R&B tones of the song but very few lyrics are revealed — in fact, Bieber only murmurs the words "heartbreaker" for the duration.

Bieber released the single's artwork on Instagram on July 3 — a ripped-up pink heart, with cupid taking his aim at it from the upper left corner. Check out the ad here.

Clip From Kanye West's Unaired HBO Pilot Posted Online
(Radio.com) Kanye West has never been shy about comparing himself to the world's most successful people. Earlier this summer, in a notorious New York Times interview to promote his most recent album, Yeezus, the rapper aligned himself with such luminaries as Walt Disney, Henry Ford, Anna Wintour and even exiting NBA commissioner David Stern. He went so far as to call himself the "Steve [Jobs] of Internet, downtown, fashion, culture. Period," adding, "I honestly feel that because Steve has passed, you know, it's like when Biggie passed and Jay-Z was allowed to become Jay-Z."

During negotiations with HBO producer Larry Charles for an untitled improv comedy show the pair worked on back in 2008, West proclaimed himself "the black Larry David." Charles revealed this to comingsoon.net during an interview from that same year that addressed the pilot episode of the show.

"So it's like a Kanye and Curb show, it's kind of improvised about the situations and stuff," Charles said, comparing the show to Larry David's popular HBO show, Curb Your Enthusiasm (Charles is a longtime Larry David associate who worked on Seinfeld and Curb). "It was really good, but again I think it was too hardcore for HBO. Also, HBO's management shifted, but HBO doesn't have a good track record when it comes to black shows and I felt like that may have had something to do with it also."

The show never made it to air, but thanks to actress Alison Quinn–who worked on the pilot episode of West's show–the world can now get a taste of what the rapper had in store after she posted a skit she was featured in from the unaired pilot.

In the skit, West meets a young fan from the Make A Wish Foundation, only to learn that he the kid would have been more interesting in meeting Lil Wayne or R. Kelly. Quinn's character spends her time repeatedly calling Kanye West "Kenny." Watch here.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. Debut New Music Video on Funny or Die
Comedy video site Funny Or Die premiered Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr.'s new music video for the song "If You Didn't See Me (Then You Weren't On The Dancefloor)," on Tuesday.

We were sent these details about the video's story line: The music video follows two cops, actors John Ennis (Mr. Show, Tenacious D) and Jay Johnston (Anchorman, Men in Black II, Arrested Development), as they attempt to hunt down Josh and Daniel of Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. and put a stop to their party time shenanigans at "The Dancefloor."

The video was directed by pro skateboarder turned video director Laban Pheidias of Occupy Films, who has previously worked with Justin Timberlake, Blake Shelton and Alicia Keys. Watch it here

"Making this video was an epic day in sunny Los Angeles" explains the band. "We wore more make up than we had cumulatively worn in our entire lives prior to filming this, and got to hang out with some of the most talented comedians we've ever had the pleasure of meeting.

"It was a really wonderful day, even when you factor in the food poisoning that Josh and the Director got form the craft services table. While the original intention of the video was not necessarily centered around humor, the energy of the actors we ended up being able to work with brought it to a great new place."

Fans will also be able to see the band perform at a handful of music festivals next month before the group teams up with Atlas Genius for the "Ones to Watch" tour. more on this story

Chris Brown Facing Possible Jail Time For Rihanna Assault Probation
(Radio.com) Chris Brown returned to court on Monday (July 15) after Los Angeles county prosecutors filed paperwork to revoke his probation. The original probation was filed in 2009 after he pleaded guilty in the domestic abuse felony conviction involving former girlfriend Rihanna.

While the District Attorney's Office let Brown go on Monday, he is still faces possible jail time, CBS Los Angeles reports. Brown has been released and ordered back to court on August 16 for further proceedings.

Deputy District Attorney Mary Murray had the choice to take Brown immediately into custody, but instead set the new trial date to determine if the probation will stand. If the probation revocation does stand, he could serve some of the five-year jail sentence for his assault of Rihanna.

Court documents (obtained by Radio.com) in the revocation of Chris Brown's probation state: "Subsequent to the defendant's grant of probation, the defendant violated his probation by committing the following crime: Vehicle Code."

In May, Brown received three misdemeanor charges after an alleged hit-and-run. He was caught driving without a license and insurance information. At the time of the accident he was already facing a probation violation after not completing community service from his 2009 assault conviction. more on this story

Sara Bareilles Looked To The Stars For The Blessed Unrest
(Radio.com) Before the making of her fourth album, The Blessed Unrest, Sara Bareilles was given a book about the cosmos. She began reading about planets, stars, and constellations, specifically Cassiopeia, which was named after the mythological queen who would brag about her beauty. This would eventually inspire her favorite song off the album, "Cassiopeia."

Her research eventually led her to the topic of supernovas, the brilliant bursts of light that stars give off when they explode. "I started to think about how that might feel to personify, you know? The idea of being a star and so far away from everything around you," she told Radio.com in a recent taped sit-down. "What if a star falls in love? The song is this idea that you give something up to come together."

"When stars collide they explode," Bareilles continued. "So it's that sort of idea that you give something up to come together. But it's worth it in the end."

This story-behind-the-song might sound a little too New Age-y for some, but for Bareilles, it's the clearest example of how she's trying to expand her horizons as a musician.

It's been three years since Bareilles released her last album, Kaleidoscope Heart, and a lot has changed in her life. The 33-year-old singer went through a break-up (which is addressed on the "Someone Like You"-style ballad "Manhattan"), moved to New York and started taking a closer look at her career.

Bareilles admits that the making of 2007′s Little Voice, which welcomed her to the mainstream with the hit "Love Song," was a bit of a blur. "I was so overwhelmed by the process, I felt like a deer in headlights a lot of the time," she said. "I don't think of it as a negative experience, but I was really young and really overwhelmed."

By her next album, 2010's Kaleidoscope Heart, she was in a really safe place, but that hindered her from taking risks. "I think I was dealing with the pressure of it being a follow-up record," Bareilles admitted. "It's a blessing to have had success with the record, but I wasn't expecting it." A lot more.

Robin Thicke Puts His Own Spin On Icona Pop's I Love It
(Radio.com) It seems that Robin Thicke can't do anything wrong. His song "Blurred Lines," off his upcoming album of the same name (dropping July 30), has been heating up the charts since it debuted. Even a little controversy surrounding the single's NSFW video couldn't keep it down.

So maybe we shouldn't be surprised that Thicke recently tackled another possible song of summer contender in Icona Pop's "I Love It" for the BBC.

Instead of trying to rival the girl group's cheeky ways though, he turns the lights down low and makes "I Love It" a sexy, slow jam. With Thicke taking the lead, the pop song is almost unrecognizable. Which, this time around, isn't a bad thing.

Best of all, he changes up the song's go-to line. Now he's from the '70s, and you're a '90s chick. And he don't care. He just loves it.

Check out Thicke's version of Icona Pop's hit here.
