(Radio.com) New details have emerged on country star Billy Currington's indictment charges. He turned himself into to police and was released on bail on Friday."Mr. Currington turned himself in to the Chatham County Sheriff's Department at 3:25 p.m. on 4/25 where he was booked on the charges," Daniel Baxter, Public Information Officer at the Office of the District Attorney, told Radio.com in an email. "He was released after posting a $27,700 Bond at 7:15 p.m. on 4/25." This follows the news that broke Wednesday (April 24) that the country singer was wanted by a Savannah, Georgia, grand jury after "making terroristic threats and abuse of an elder person." The indictment was filed in the Superior Court of Chatham County Wednesday for two separate counts. The court papers report that the incident took place on April 15th, when Currington "did threaten to cause unlawful bodily harm to Charles Harvey Ferrelle, a crime of violence, with the purpose of terrorizing." The second count says Currington "did willfully inflict mental anguish upon Charles Harvey Ferrelle, an elder person who is more than 65 years of age who is not a resident of a long-term care facility." It continues to claim Currington threatened "to cause unlawful bodily harm." more.

(Radio.com) In the midst of court appearances and possible jail time, Lauryn Hill has found time (and the peace of mind) to pen a deal with Sony to release new music. The former Fugees singer posted on her Tumblr Thursday night (April 25) that she has entered an agreement with the music company to launch her own record label with which to put out her own material. Unbelievably, Hill has not released a studio album since her 1998 smash The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, which she released on Columbia, a subsidiary of Sony. In 2010, she released a single called "Repercussions," her first in eight years. "[The deal] better reflects my true contribution as an artist, and (purportedly) gives me the control necessary to create a paradigm suitable for my needs," she wrote. "I have been working towards this for a long time, not just because of my current legal situation, but because I am an artist, I love to create, and I need the proper platform to do so." She also dispelled any rumors that she is pursuing the new venture purely to pay the $504,000 in back taxes in a two-week period, as court-ordered in her ongoing tax evasion case. Hill reportedly failed to file taxes on $1.8 million in past income between 2005 and 2007. "This is an old conflict between art and commerce… free minds, and minds that are perhaps overly tethered to structure," wrote Hill in the blog post. "This is about inequity, and the resulting disenfranchisement caused by it. I've been fighting for existential and economic freedom, which means the freedom to create and live without someone threatening, controlling, and/or manipulating the art and the artist, by tying the purse strings." Unfortunately, the court system does not see her artistic, "free" thinking as reason to evade taxes. more.

(Radio.com) Celine Dion's new album, Water And A Flame, won't be out until October, but the singer went on Katie Couric's daytime talk show last Thursday (April 25) to preview the record's title track. For the album, her first English speaking release in six years, Dion is showing off a tougher side of herself and even adding a little rasp to her usually clear-as-a-bell voice. On her new song–a cover of Aussie singer Daniel Merriweather's track off his 2009 album, Love & War, which features backing vocals from Adele–Dion defiantly sings, "I'm tired of this empty house/I need a drink to get me out/I need a couple more to forget your name." This is definitely not the same woman who sang "My Heart Will Go On." "Instead of trying to make it pure and perfect, I get to loosen up a little," she said of the song. All that said, the track is not currently available online. But that doesn't mean fans won't hear the same Celine they know and love. "We just want to please," she said. "Right now I'm having the best time with songs that we love… I hope that people will love it." more.

(Radio.com) After what seemed like dozens of bogus fan-created versions of Daft Punk's new single, "Get Lucky," the song finally hit the streets (April 19) and brought calm to an otherwise writhing sea of fakes. But just because the single is officially out (and currently at #19 on Billboard's Hot 100) doesn't mean it hasn't already become fodder for amateur remixers the world over. Taking existing parts or "stems" from the song and re-arranging them is one thing. But it's a whole other thing to reinterpret the funky disco-inspired track in '80s Nintendo 8-bit video game style, or rather "chip tune." Listen to Floating Point's very robotic sounding "Get Lucky" here.

(Radio.com) Tate Stevens will try to convince you that he's just an average guy from Middle America. But there's something special about this former road construction worker. Even Simon Cowell could see it.With his booming voice and likable personality, Stevens not only won over the American public on last year's season of the X Factor, but the four very opinionated judges, which included Cowell, Britney Spears, Demi Lovato and his mentor on the show, record executive L.A. Reid. The Belton, Missouri, native knew from the moment he started recording that he wanted those two winning traits to show through on his self-titled debut, out now. "As an artist your albums are part of you," Stevens told Radio.com. "To do an album that represents me as an artist and a person for the most part, that was what it was about." He added, "I wanted people to see my personality. I love having fun and I like kicking back and…I tried to make sure that that came across." For that reason, the album, which Stevens started recording in January, only two weeks after winning the show, features only two ballads: "Ordinary Angels" and "Power Of A Love Song," a song he knew he had to record the moment he heard it. "Everyone loves love songs," Stevens explained. "They move you emotionally, good and bad. They can take you places." more.

(Radio.com) Emerging EDM star Zedd got his start in a metal band called Dioramic, and it's the band mentality that has kept him afloat. "When you're in a band it's always a compromise," he told Radio.com.While now all the decisions made are his own, he relishes the lessons he has learned while being in a band. He's not saying being in a band is better than being your own boss, it's just different. "You learn why your idea is better than the other guys' idea," he said. "It doesn't help to say, 'Because I think it's cooler,' you have to think about it and find an argument. 'This is better because it makes sense in this context.' You really learn to think about what you do instead of just doing something and thinking, 'Wow that actually sounds cool. Done.' By just going through that school you judge music differently and you think about every step you do more. I think you just think about details more." At the end of the day, though, he said he never puts his name on something he's not happy with. And, he bucks the title of "DJ." "I'm not a DJ," he said. "I'm a producer. But the main thing is I'm a musician. That means I can do anything at any time, and make a piano album if I wanted to." more.

(Extra) Boston bombing victim Heather Abbott, who made the tough decision to have her lower leg amputated, received a welcome visit from Aviva Drescher, star of "Real Housewives of New York" and fellow amputee -- and "Extra" was there! The women met at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Drescher brought Abbott a bracelet. "This is for you," said the reality TV star. "When I was a little girl, someone gave me a bracelet. It was to symbolize hope. This one actually says hope. I want you to wear it." The young woman injured after two bombs exploded at the Boston Marathon talked about how she is feeling, "Got some pain now which is difficult. Sometimes just standing up is tough. I've got a lot of questions." Drescher, who suffered a childhood injury, described making the same decision to have a leg amputation at age 26. "I had a really bad amputation at my ankle, and I had 20 years of horrible pain. All the doctors came to me, like they came to you, and said 'You'd be better off if you amputate your leg.' I did the same thing that you did, and it's the best thing l ever did, so I want you to never ever look back and regret this decision. I promise you made the right decision. You're going to be fully functional." Aviva also said it's really hard to lose a part of yourself, but promised Heather will get used to it. Abbott said she has had many visitors, mostly men, and it has been hard to relate to them. She asked Aviva how to dress as a woman with a prosthetic. Drescher answered, "You will wear skirts again. You will wear heels again, will dance, will do sports. You can do whatever you want because prosthetics are so amazing today." more on this story

(Extra) Actor Alec Baldwin has been getting rave reviews in the Broadway play "Orphans," and he talked to "Extra's" AJ Calloway about the experience and the rumors about a late night talk show.Starring with Ben Foster and Tom Sturridge in the revival, Baldwin explained, "It's a rich piece of material. The characters show up in that space under pretty weird circumstances. This was hard to do. I never want to do plays that aren't hard because then you get bored." The "30 Rock" star described the play's physicality. "Every night it's different. Today, Ben really tied me up. I told him he was going to get the award from the Wyoming Cattlemen's Association." As for the rumors he is headed to late-night TV, Alec sets the record straight… it's not happening just yet. "Late-night has been a really tough thing for NBC, and they really want to handle it their own way, so I was talking to them, but they're not ready. There's a kind of show I want to do, which I may do down the road. The good news is Jimmy Fallon is going to do 'The Tonight Show' and Lorne Michaels is going to produce in New York." Baldwin is also preparing for daddy duty when wife Hilaria gives birth to their baby girl later this summer. Calloway asked Alec about all the estrogen in the house. Alec joked, "I've got two dogs... female... my wife... my daughter... everyone who works for us," and added he was going to build a man cave in another apartment in his building. more on this story
