The family of a late musician wants Kanye West to pay up. West is being sued over a sample that he used in his 2005 hit song "Gold Digger." West allegedly sampled part of the 1974 song "Bumpin' Bus Stop" by Thunder & Lightning in the track and the family of late David Pryor have filed suit. The suit reportedly claims that West sampled a 13-second portion of the song in which Pryor says "get down" three times in an echo of West's chorus, "Get down girl, go 'head, get down," according to FMQB. Pryor's children, Trena Steward and Lorenzo Pryor, have reportedly requested that a judge block the future sales of the song and they want "millions of dollars" in damages for the unlicensed sample. EW.com have posted streams of both songs here.

(Hollyscoop) Taylor Swift is reportedly dating an Australian pro-surfer named John John Florence. The two supposedly met in November and have been planning a second date later this month.Besides John John's confusing TWO first names and the fact that they are averaging 1 date every 6 months, Grazia magazine insists that the two have been talking and that Taylor is super "keen" on him. Well, it turns out Taylor has never even met him. "She is not dating him, not texting him, and doesn't know him," Taylor's rep tells Hollyscoop. The Grazia source claimed, "Taylor seems extremely keen on JJ. He's quite different to anyone she's dated in the past, and while he's in the spotlight, it's his prowess as a surfer that she admires." Mind you, they say this right after acknowledging that they went on ONE date. Sure, Taylor moves fast, but c'mon, she really feels strongly about a dude she probably spent a few hours with? This is as laughably untrue as when she "hooked up" with Ed Sheeran. Ed's like two feet shorter than her, that would never work out. Besides, didn't you read Taylor's recent interview for Wonderland magazine where she revealed, "I have no idea if I'm going to get married or be single forever, or have a family or be on my own." more on this story

(Radio.com) Kelly Clarkson took the stage at the Academy of Country Music Awards this weekend in Las Vegas for a standout performance of "Don't Rush," but it wasn't her singing that made the headlines. Backstage Clarkson chatted with Entertainment Tonight's Nancy O'Dell and revealed that in addition to singing at her wedding, Blake Shelton will be marrying her. "He's not only singing, he's marrying us," she said. "He's done it before with people. He's actually marrying Ashley Monroe from the Pistol Annies as well." While it's sometimes hard to believe Shelton has a serious side to him, Clarkson said this is in fact the case, and what we all see on Twitter is just his drunken persona. "He can be very sentimental and you don't know how to take it," she said. more on this story

The Digital EP features Kacey Musgraves performing acoustic covers of Miley Cyrus' "See You Again" and One Republic's "Apologize," the latter is the previously unreleased recording which the label thought was lost. The songs were recorded at Brain Machine Recording Studios in Austin, Texas when Musgraves was just out of high school. "They're just acoustic songs, but they showcase Kacey's developing performing talent, which has now brought her acclaim. She took these songs and made them her own," says Triple Pop owner, Monte Robison, who co-produced the songs. Check out a free stream of "Apologize" here.

(Radio.com) Revered dance duo Daft Punk has been doing things their own inimitable way leading up to the May 21st release of their fourth studio album, Random Access Memories. From old-school billboards to TV commercials to a series of videos with the album's collaborators, the band has ramped up their mysterious robot personas to KISS-like proportions. Now it's been announced that the album will be premiered at one of the least likely (and most random) locales imaginable: the 79th annual Wee Waa Show in the tiny town (pop. 2100) of Wee Waa, Australia, on May 17. According to Australia's Herald Sun, "Sony will start playing Random Access Memories from a purpose-built stage as the town gears up for the weekend-long show festivities" on the first night of the annual agricultural event, which starts on May 17 and runs through May 19. The paper goes on to say that party details are "top secret for now, with plans expected to attract international attention to the rural town." A press release from WeeWaa.com states that tickets to the event will be limited to 4000 (which is almost twice the population of Wee Waa) and go on sale this Friday, April 12. Other events at the show include such "typical Australian country show entertainment" as a cross cut saw competition, dog high jump, showgirls and fireworks. As unexpected as the event seems, representatives from local government arm the Narrabri Shire Council assured Australian site musicfeeds that it's "actually happening." more on this story

(Radio.com) Linda Perry, the songwriter and producer behind chart-toppers like Christina Aguilera's "Beautiful," is a pro at delivering hits. So when she proposed to girlfriend Sara Gilbert, co-host of CBS's The Talk, a musical flash mob was the only way to go.Gilbert announced the nuptials on Monday's show (April 8), explaining that Perry brought her to a park for what she thought would be a quiet picnic. The unsuspecting Gilbert said that when a nearby street performer started playing one of their favorite songs, she thought it was a simple coincidence. "I'm like, 'Oh, that's so weird, this is so magical and amazing,'" Gilbert recounted. "[Perry's] like 'Oh, I'm going to go ask him to play this other song.' But the other song is really obscure and this guy wouldn't know it. But magically he knows it." Perry's proposal soon went from "magical" afternoon to full-blown Broadway musical as more passersby joined in on the song. "The people picnicking next to us pull out string instruments from under the blanket, walk over and they start playing 'Lovesong.'" more on this story

(Radio.com) Justin Bieber's new pet, a capuchin monkey named OG Mally (Original Gangster Mally), has been making headlines and for all the wrong reasons. The pop star received the monkey, then 14 weeks old, as a birthday gift (he turned 19 on March 1) from producer Jamal Rashid (a.k.a. Mally Mall), who has worked with 2 Chainz, Yelawolf and more, according to his website's bio. A month (and many Instagram photo shoots) later, Mally was seized by German officials at the Munich Airport after Bieber could not provide the proper documentation for bringing the animal into the country. Since, she's been reportedly safe and sound in a Munich animal sanctuary, according to Germany's Spiegel Online, which also revealed that, while the capuchin was "in good spirits," she was also "constantly clinging to a toy stuffed cat." Now, Bieber has four weeks to provide as of mid-last week to get the correct paperwork to retrieve Mally from German authorities. If he doesn't, it's unclear what exactly will happen to the monkey, but British tabloid The Sun has offered to help transfer her to a British zoo The Monkey Sanctuary, located in Cornwall (Southwest England). (Radio.com) Hunter Hayes is no stranger to writing about his feelings. His GRAMMY-nominated crossover hit single "Wanted" was a love letter to tell a girl how he felt about her.Now he's back with "I Want Crazy," a song he debuted this weekend at the Academy of Country Music Awards. On the track, Hayes sings, "I don't want good and I don't want good enough/I want can't sleep, can't breathe without your love . . . I don't want easy, I want crazy." Radio.com sat down with Hayes to discuss his songwriting process and whether he ever holds back on revealing too much for fear the person he's writing about will find out. "I'm a big fan of just letting everything out on the table. That's why I write songs, that's why I do what I do," he explained. "I'm a big fan of just saying whatever is on your mind. 19-year-old singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Chase Kroesche has released a new music video for his new single "1-2-3" on Youtube. We were sent this background information about Chase: As an early teen, he was a nationally ranked tennis player and fenced, but, by age 13, he'd taken that focus, passion and intense practice schedule to music ("I traded tennis strings for guitar strings," he jokes). His hard work led to a scholarship at Boston's prestigious Berklee College of Music; touring by the age of 14; awards at the Peaks Jazz Festival in his native Utah; gigs at L.A.'s infamous Whisky; and performances with Frank Zappa saxophonist Napoleon Murphy Brock and David Bowie guitarist Earl Slick -- not bad for a high school kid. Now, even as he works toward his degree in Popular Music from the USC Thornton School of Music, CHASE is embarking on yet another exciting new chapter, thanks to the winter 2012-2013 release of "1-2-3" and, in 2013, his follow-up EP, featuring "Satellite," a collaboration with hit producer/songwriter Brian Howes (Nickelback; Daughtry). As Chase himself notes: "I'm ambitious, and a very disciplined, no-nonsense person. That doesn't make me sound very fun," he acknowledges with a laugh, "but really, the reason I listen to music is to have fun, so, when I write music, that's what it's about; it's not about telling people how bad I feel, or being sad, pissed and lonely and upset with the world. I write to make people - and me - feel happy. He's achieved that goal with "1-2-3." Simple and timeless, the pop confection will have girls swooning and songwriters envious. Check out the video here.

Today Kat Auster from The Goodnight Darlings tells us about their new single "Red Hot" and the music video. The track comes from from their brand EP "Doll Drums". (You may remember Kat as a coach on MTV's "Made"). Here is the story: I was kind of awake, with the morning news on, shaking dreams from my head. The newscaster, discussing a baseball team said, "Their season is RED HOT" in a dramatic, over-the top, 1950s, Americana kind of way. I loved that. With our first single "Red Hot" I felt like announcing our season with our new dream band THE Goodnight Darlings . "Few players know what they're worth. They wait around to get told. But we're not afraid to push dirt. We've shoved and shined to hit gold." We've created our self-produced, debut EP, "Doll Drums" with money from many day, and night, jobs- but there is a special power and ownership that can only belong to a hard working underdog. With "Red Hot" I wanted to write an anthem that gives people permission to feel like a badass. And besides, I loved remembering those anarchy cheerleaders from the Nirvana "Smells Like Team Spirit" video. They popped into my head, and I'm pretty sure "Red Hot" would be a favorite cheer of their squad. As for the video for "Red Hot", we had a blast making it- and a lot of good luck! While still brainstorming ideas for visuals, I happened to run into our director, Robert Adam Mayer (Jay-Z at the Barclay, The Village Voice) at Home Depot in Chelsea. We were both looking for Christmas trees. ( I love when all of a sudden, New York City feels like a small town.) On our way out, he said in passing, "Wouldn't it be cool if you guys got into a parade for this one? Like 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off'". Sure enough, within the week, we were in the Three Kings Day Parade, a magical celebration that takes place every year in Upper Manhattan. So we drove up in my Red Mustang and invited our friends, The Hungry March Band (NYC's legendary street brass march band) and it was a Red Hot Party. Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and check out the video here. Learn more about the group right here!
