(Radio.com) Lil Wayne has had a rough time in recent weeks. He was rushed to the hospital after having multiple seizures on a music video set, reported to have been near death, tweeted that he was, in fact, OK, and finally, he made it home in time to announce a new tour. After all that, Weezy recently revealed that he suffers from epilepsy. On Thursday (March 28) Wayne admitted that he has suffered from multiple seizures in his lifetime that he kept from his fans. "The thing is, man, the bad news is, I'm an epileptic, so I'm prone to seizures," the rapper said in a radio interview. "This isn't my first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh seizure. I've had a bunch of seizures; y'all just never hear about it. This time, it got real bad because I got three of 'em in a row and on the third one, my heart rate went down to, like, 30 percent. Basically, I could've died soon. That's why it was so serious." During Wayne's hospitalization rumors circulated that Weezy's seizures were a result of ingesting Sizzurp, a promethazine and codeine cocktail that has been known to cause death. Wayne offered a different explanation. "The reason being for the seizures is just plain stress, no rest and overworking myself," he said. "That's typical me, though." He also shared his opinion of TMZ

The wrongful death suit for the king of pop may involve Prince. Michael Jackson's mother Katherine may call Prince as a witness in wrongful death lawsuit against AEG, according to TMZ. Katherine and Michael's three kids are seeking $40 billion in damages from AEG. The family is claiming the company was negligent in hiring Dr. Conrad Murray and in supervising him. Katherine's legal team plans to call nearly 100 witnesses, and Prince is among them, according to legal documents cited by TMZ that were filed in March. There is no indication of the reason Prince will be called as he never collaborated with Jackson, but the TMZ hearsay has it that Prince may have had a bad experience with AEG in the past that might possibly be relevant. more on this story

(Radio.com) The first time Phoenix ever heard themselves on the radio, they were hanging out in the living room of lead singer Thomas Mars' parents house in Versailles. A fellow French band making their own radio debut premiered two of their songs for the world to hear."It was the guys from Daft Punk who were interviewed by a small radio station," Mars told Radio.com. It was the electronic duo's very first interview ever with a tiny French radio station. Though no one knows how many people were actually listening that night, Mars ventured to guess it was in "the three digits." Daft Punk played both songs from Phoenix's first 7-inch, "City Lights" and "Party Time," which later appeared on the band's 2000 debut, United. more on this story

(Radio.com) Last week, Blake Shelton visited Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Currently promoting his new release Based On A True Story
, which came out Tuesday (March 26), Shelton performed alongside Fallon and Parks and Recreation's Nick Offerman for a performance. Normal enough, except they were all wearing fluffy, yellow chicken costumes."Ladies and gentleman, here to perform an all-clucking version of the hit song 'Ho, Hey' by The Lumineers, please welcome The Chickeneers!" And with a strum of the guitar and a cluck, they began the hilarious cover, if you can even call it that. Watch it here.

(Radio.com) When it came time to record their sophomore album Wild & Free, A Rocket To the Moon decided to take a different approach and enlisted the help of several Nashville co-writers. But during an interview with Radio.com, frontman Nick Santino and guitarist Justin Richards explained that there was one writer in particular that held major influence on the band: romance writer for the masses, Nicholas Sparks (The Notebook, A Walk To Remember). One of the first tracks the band wrote for Wild & Free was "First Kiss," a song the band is convinced would make for a great feature in a Nicholas Sparks film. "We tried to just write about the act of a first kiss at that age in our life," Richards said. Santino said it's important for A Rocket To the Moon to write relatable songs. "As cheesy as it is, a first kiss happens to pretty much everybody," he said. "It was the first song we wrote for the album. We kind of tucked it away for a while and wrote a bunch more songs and when it came to picking songs for the album that was one of the first ones we brought up. It's been getting good feedback so far and I think it's because it's super relatable." "First Kiss" is a soaring ballad that describes a first date in vivid detail and isn't a long way off from each member's own first kiss. "It reminds me of being in sixth grade, seventh grade and not being able to drive myself [to a date] and you get dropped off at the house," Richards said. "Dad answers the door and you're scared of him." more on this story

(Radio.com) Justin Timberlake might have nearly broken a million this week, but Kacey Musgraves got herself to the top of the charts too. The singer, who sold 43,000 copies of her latest album in its debut week, Same Trailer Different Park, landed at number one on the Top Country Albums chart. The singer told Radio.com she hopes fans relate to the small-town themes on her album and the funny stories she tells about the people who live there. "I don't ever want to be taken too seriously," she said. "I love a song that makes people think, but I love to laugh too
if there can be a sarcastic tongue and cheek point in it then I love that." That's one of Musgraves' favorite parts of her first single, "Merry Go 'Round," which cleverly plays off the word merry. The idea came from a story her songwriting partner Shane McAnally's mom told her. "It started because Shane's mom was talking about one of her neighbors down the street," she said. "And she was like, 'I think she's selling either Mary Kay or Mary Jane or something down there.'" more on this story

(Radio.com) "Individuality" and "a sense of who they are"according to Big Machine Label Group CEO and president Scott Borchetta, those are some of the key characteristics that define the artists he signs. Borchetta sat down for an interview today with CBS This Morning and talked about the state of country music and country radio, how and why the format is skewing younger, and some of the rumors surrounding the artist that Big Machine is best known for, Taylor Swift.Founded in 2005, the Big Machine Label Group (which also includes the labels Valory and Republic Nashville) is the home of such superstar acts as Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts, The Band Perry, and of course Taylor Swift. The label group is also home to such up-and-coming artists as Brantley Gilbert, Justin Moore, Florida Georgia Line, and the Eli Young Band. As CBS This Morning notes, "Combined, Borchetta's artists have sold more than 40 million albums worldwide." In this day and age, that's a lot of music. The label's biggest success story remains Taylor Swift, who was among the first artists on Big Machine. Though she was only 14 when Borchetta first heard her, Taylor's young age was not a deterrent to him. "What I saw in Taylor was
just a great artist," he says in the interview. "Even at 14 years old I was enamored by her songwriting prowess, and just her process. So I just always saw her as a great artist." And that term "great artist" has serious weight for him. As he explains it, the main thing he's looking for when he signs an artist is "individuality." In other words, he says, an artist who "has an artist vision and a sense of who they are and what they want to say." Music fans are "not going to hear artists on our label that sound like other artists. I don't need somebody that sounds like Tim McGraw. I have Tim McGraw." more on this story

(Radio.com) Carly Rae Jepsen is taking fans into her songwriting world for her latest project. In partnership with American Idol and Coca-Cola, Jepsen is allowing fans to choose the lyrics for her song "Take A Picture," which she'll perform on the season finale of American Idol on May 16. The eight-week project has different tasks for each fan every week leading up to her performance."It's going to be this sort of mass collaboration with the fans, so basically it wasn't just writing one song, it was like writing one song with three different versions," Jepsen told Rolling Stone about the process. "It was like those storybooks where there are alternate endings. The whole concept was we would create a song that all of the elements of the performance could be voted on the clothing the dancers wear, the background, the setting of the stage design, the lighting, everything. I liked the idea. I actually spent three days cooped up in my hotel room in the Bahamas, mapping out this idea of a song called 'Take a Picture.'" Fans can help choose lyrics for the first verse of her song as well as enter to win a trip to the finale to watch her perform it live. While Jepsen isn't quite sure how her fans will vote, she's excited for the final product. more on this story
