Sublime Member Injured In Accident
(TMZ) Sublime's summer tour nearly came to a screeching halt last weekend -- when the band's bassist dislocated his shoulder during a freak longboard accident ... and his rottweiler's to blame.

It all went down Sunday at Summerfest in Milwaukee -- sources close to the band tell TMZ, Eric Wilson's rott was pulling him around backstage on his longboard ... when the bassist took a nasty spill.

We're told Wilson's hand had somehow gotten tangled in his dog's leash -- and the strong animal dragged him 10 feet, dislocating his right shoulder.

Paramedics responded to the scene and rushed Wilson to a nearby hospital, where doctors popped the shoulder back into its socket. Eric's now back on the road, but still recovering.

Lucky for Eric, he didn't injure his left shoulder, which supports his bass strap and does most of the moving when he plays. Eric's rep tells us, "If he had injured his left shoulder, we would have had to cancel the rest of the tour."

Feel the break, feeeeeeeel the break. more on this story

Jennifer Lopez On The Fence About American Idol Return
(TMZ) Jennifer Lopez is telling friends ... she HAS NOT made up her mind on her future with "American Idol" ... and WILL NOT make a decision until after she finishes her current concert tour with Enrique Iglesias.

There are reports Jennifer has already informed producers she's a no-go to return to the judge's table next season ... but sources close to J.Lo tell us the reports are absolutely not true.

We're told Jennifer wants to "see where things are in her life" when the concert ends.

Translation: If Jen's popularity is UP after the tour and she has more options, she's more likely to bounce off the show. If she's not ... "Idol" ain't a bad fallback gig.

It wouldn't be the first time J.Lo waited 'til the last minute -- last year, she held out until late August and finally gave in when producers agreed to fork over $20 mil for a 1-year deal. more on this story

The Good Wife Star Rushed to The Hospital After Injury On The Set
(TMZ) Kristin Chenoweth was rushed to a hospital after she was injured on the Brooklyn set of "The Good Wife" yesterday ... TMZ has learned.

A source connected to the production of the CBS show tells us ... Kristin was struck by a piece of lighting equipment and fell to the ground.

We're told Kristin smacked her head on the concrete during the fall ... and required medical attention.

Someone on the set called 911 around 5:07 PM ET to report a woman who had been hit in the head by a scaffold.

TMZ spoke with a witness who was on the scene who says, "That area is a vortex for wind ... and a big gust of wind blew the lighting off the scaffolding."

The witness tells us Chenoweth was hit "square in the head" and appeared to be "knocked out cold." The witness says, "I thought she was dead at first."

Kristin was taken away from the set in an FDNY ambulance (pictured above) and was admitted to a nearby hospital.

A rep for the New York Fire Dept. tells us ... the victim is being treated for "minor injuries" connected to the accident.

Kristin seems to be accident prone ... she injured her neck during the pre-Broadway engagement of "Wicked" in 2003.

Then, in 2006 she fell off an elevated section of the stage during a rehearsal of the Broadway revival "The Apple Tree."

And in 2011, Kristin injured her back on the set of "Glee" when she tumbled down a set of concrete stairs. more on this story

Nelly Furtado Releases Inspirational Spirit Indestructible Video
(popmusiclife) Nelly Furtado has released a very special lyric video for her new song, "Spirit Indestructible." The tune is the title track to her forthcoming album "The Spirit Indestructible," which is set to arrive on September 18.

The video features the inspiring story of Spencer West, a double amputee who climbed Mount Kilimanjaro last month using only his hands. "Spencer has just finished an incredible climb up Mount Kilimanjaro to raise awareness and financial support for clean water projects in Africa," writes Furtado. "Spencer is a true hero who knows how to 'redefine his possible' every day. I wrote this song in tribute to humanity, as I believe we are all capable of triumphing over whatever obstacle life brings. The spirit indestructible is in all of us. People like Spencer have proven this to me."

"Spirit Indestructible is amazing and has such a powerful message," says West. "I am extremely humbled to be featured along side of such a inspirational song. The clips that were chosen for the lyrics are awesome and although its only been a few weeks, seeing them brought back so many memories from our climb!" Watch the video here.

Singled Out: Jess Turner's Shakespeare
Today Jess Turner tells us about the song "Shakespeare" which comes from her self-titled debut album. Here is the story:

Two of the most popular questions I get when people want to understand more about my songwriting are these: 1) "What inspires you?" and 2) "Why didn't you study music at school?" And, frankly, I don't have a real answer to either. But I know that the first title off my debut album has something to do with both.

I was an English major at Princeton, and a self-professed literature nerd. However, here I was my freshman year, toying with the idea of becoming some kind of trendy pop singer, attempting to write bluesy, Sara Bareilles-esque songs. But my songs at that point were still too nice. Luckily, I experienced my first real romantic letdown for the first time between my freshman and sophomore years, and the sass just came spilling out onto the keys. Thank god for jerks.

I wrote the music to "Shakespeare" first. I knew I wanted to write something poppy and bluesy and sassy, but I just didn't really know what I wanted it to be about. Except for him, of course. My heart was stinging but my mouth was singing, and I when I sat down to process everything, I realized that my least favorite thing about the whole thing was the mixed signals. So, naturally, I decided to write a song about it.

The tune took a while to evolve. I was in school full-time, going to literature and music and sociology classes every day, and my head was bulging with new ideas. But I would only have time to write music for maybe 20 minutes a day. However, there was a ton of what I like to call musical daydreaming going on during class. I'd sit in lecture, get bored after 10 minutes, and start painting songs in cursive in my notebook. Despite the internal distractions, I managed to learn a lot during those lectures, and interesting ideas and themes from my literature classes slowly began infiltrating my artistic consciousness. They would pop up later in my songs, and I like to think that my literary-influenced lyrics have become a part of my musical signature.

I was working one night on this new song I had been dreaming up, and I had most of my lyrics for the chorus. They captured my extreme dislike of mixed signals, like I had planned. And then I got to the hook, and I came across a common songwriting roadblock – I wasn't sure how to end the chorus. I wanted to sum up my frustration with this guy with something edgy and witty, so I sat there at the piano for about an hour, layering different lines of muttered gibberish on top of the catchy ending melodic phrase I had hummed into existence an hour earlier. In a moment of impatience, I sighed and let my mind and eyes wander over to my desk. I glanced over the towering stack of books and, in a crucial moment for the song, I realized how much my situation and my literature class had in common.

Many of Shakespeare's plays deal with mixed messages – someone doesn't get an imperative message in time, people are mistaken for one another. And somebody always dies. While my situation was not quite as tragic as those in the plays I had been reading for ENG385, I got excited by the possibility of combining my two favorite things – music and literature. But, in the process, I also wrote into the tune a kind of inside joke with myself, the preppy, intellectual Princetonian trying to be a trendy, grungy songwriter.

I decided to end my chorus with the line, "Feel like I'm reading Shakespeare in the dark." On the surface, it was supposed to imply that the speaker (me, I won't deny it) doesn't understand the story that she's trying to read. She's completely in the dark, attempting to understand what seems like another language. Students everywhere struggle with Shakespeare, even at Princeton. But I was a budding Shakespeare enthusiast. Not coincidentally, I declared myself an English major around the same time that I finished the song. So, on one level, I was trying to convey the idea of being completely lost and confused, with no direction. But on another level, I was convincing myself that I knew exactly what was going on, as a competent reader, and I wasn't going to stand for it. Traditionally, the audience in Shakespeare understands the plethora of mixed messages in the story, while the players tragically don't. In "Shakespeare," I was trying to split myself into the Jess of the song and of that time when I was in the grips of an unproductive relationship, and the idealized version of myself who understood the tragedy of the relationship and could see through the ambiguity and mixed signals. I still like to think that Jess the songwriter is wiser than Jess the girl and can read into confusing situations and people.

Of course, I couldn't be too nerdy with the song. My engineer suggested adding some hip-hop influenced backbeats into the song, and I was thrilled at the idea. The electronic accents underneath the bluesy piano bass are, in my opinion, what make the song. I learned a great deal from writing "Shakespeare," and I aim to continue writing music that is hip and new, yet still pays tribute to all of the writers and thinkers I've been inspired by throughout my life and studies. Maybe nerds can be cool.

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album right here!

Bob Marley Has Caribbean Sea Creature Named After Him
(Gibson) Bob Marley has joined a list of famous people, including Elvis Presley and Beyonce, who have had creatures named after them. Paul Sikkel, a marine biologist at Arkansas State University, has named a small parasite Gnathia marleyi. It's a crustacean blood feeder that infests fish in coral reefs, according to NME.

"I named this species, which is truly a natural wonder, after Marley because of my respect and admiration for Marley's music," Sikkel said. "Plus, this species is as uniquely Caribbean as Marley."

The parasite is comparable to a tick or a mosquito, said Sikkel. In case you were wondering, there's a a horse fly named for Beyonce and a wasp named for Elvis. more on this story

Once the Dotsons were alerted to the situation, they obviously denied the charges -- and quickly cancelled their cards and changed their account passwords.

It gets worse ... while still connected to the reality TV stars' computer ... the perps began to chat over instant message about the heist in progress. Laura, thinking quickly, took a screen grab of the convo.
