Simon Cowell's X Factor Coming To America

For the folks that miss Simon Cowell on American Idol, we have some good news: he is bringing his hit UK show The X Factor to America with auditions beginning Sunday, March 27, in Los Angeles. Here is the official word with details:

Simon Cowell, Sony Music, FremantleMedia North America and FOX announced today that the highly anticipated singing competition series THE X FACTOR will award the show's winner with a record-breaking $5 million record deal – the largest guaranteed prize in television history – with Syco, a joint venture between Sony Music and Cowell.

THE X FACTOR is looking for talent young and old alike – with no upper age limit – to audition for a shot at becoming the next global music sensation. Auditions for the inaugural season of THE X FACTOR begin on Sunday, March 27 in Los Angeles at the L.A. Sports Arena. (Absolutely Live) Two shows will be held in honor of the late Kate McGarrigle at Town Hall in New York City on May 12 and 13.

A tribute to the iconic and influential singer/songwriter, the shows, curated by Joe Boyd, will showcase performances by Kate's children, Martha and Rufus Wainwright, Kate's sister, Anna McGarrigle, Jimmy Fallon, Emmylou Harris, Antony (of Antony and the Johnsons), Krystle Warren, Teddy Thompson, Justin Bond, and more. In conjunction with the shows, Nonesuch Records will release a new edition of the first two Kate & Anna McGarrigle albums.

From the release of that eponymous album in 1976, Kate and Anna McGarrigle defined a sophisticated yet traditional branch of North American song. Their rich harmonies, rooted in the Irish and Quebecois music of their upbringing, drew listeners into a personal world of songs about romance, heartbreak, chemistry, solitude, ageing and adventure. Adele Announces Spring Tour

Adele has announced a North America tour will kick off in Washington, DC on May 12 and run through June 20 in Nashville, TN

Adele is touring in support of her sophomore album 21, which will be released on February 22.

Adele's last proper show in the U.S. was in front of 19,000 fans at Los Angeles' historic Hollywood Bowl in June of 2009. Known for her incredible live performances, fans will get a sneak peek of Adele when she appears on the Today show (February 18), Late Show with David Letterman (February 21), The Ellen DeGeneres Show (February 24), ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live! Brett Dennen has announced a headlining tour that kicks off on May 5th at Fitzgerald's in Houston, TX and continues through June 25th with a show at Fox Theatre in Oakland, CA.

John Brodeur will release Tiger Pop Ten, a two-CD set featuring a newly recorded version of his 2001 pop album Tiger Pop, On April 5th.

A two-month tour in support of the release will begin later this month with a kick off in New York City at American Folk Art Museum.

Lauren Pritchard Announces U.S. Tour With Matt White and Brendan James

(Big Hassle) Lauren Pritchard will launch a U.S. tour with Matt White and Brendan James on March 17th in Little Rock, AR.

The run, which will include a performance at Los Angeles' intimate Hotel Café on April 1st, will conclude in Pittsburgh on April 17th.

Live Nation Completes Front Line Deal

(PR) Live Nation has acquired substantially all of the remaining equity stake in Front Line Management Group, Inc. that it did not previously own for total consideration of $116.2 million in cash and stock.

On Friday, Live Nation acquired the equity interests in Front Line formerly held by Irving Azoff and Madison Square Garden. The cash portion of the transaction totaled $56.5 million and was funded with cash on hand. The remaining $59.7 million was paid using newly-issued shares of Live Nation common stock.

As a result of the transaction, Live Nation will consolidate the entity for U.S. federal income tax purposes. Of the total shares issued, Mr. Azoff received 1.8 million shares of common stock and Madison Square Garden received 3.9 million shares of common stock. more on this story
