Warner Bros. Records will release The Danny Elfman & Tim Burton 25th Anniversary Music Box this December to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the collaboration between composer Danny Elfman and film director Tim Burton.

The Music Box is a very special limited-edition, numbered box set of 1000 that collects expansions of the 13 original scores that Elfman has composed for Burton's iconic films: a newly produced library of 16 CDs each packaged with artwork by Burton, adding up to more than 19 hours of music.

Additionally, the package will contain a bonus DVD of a recent exclusive conversation between Elfman and Burton discussing every film and score in their remarkable quarter century collaboration. - more on this story

Dan Black Announce Fall Live Dates

Dan Black has confirmed a batch of fall headlining shows in Seattle, Reno, San Francisco and San Diego.

The British singer and songwriter will kick things off with a performance at Austin City Limits on Saturday, October 9 and then wrap with a New York City show at Highline Ballroom on Tuesday, October 19 as part of this year's CMJ Music Marathon.

Following his headlining shows, BLACK has also been confirmed to perform Saturday, October 16 at Southern California's Cypress Hill SmokeOut in the festival's new Massive Stoned Garden stage alongside the likes of deadmau5, Paul Oakenfold, Basement Jaxx, MGMT and others. Massive Attack To Give Car Ad Proceeds To Gulf Cleanup Efforts

(Press Here) Massive Attack will donate their income from the upcoming Lincoln car commercial to clean up operations in the Gulf.

This is the first time in their 20+-year career that Massive Attack have permitted their music to be used in a car commercial. The band saw the offer from Lincoln as an opportunity to help environmental groups currently working to clean up after the ecological tragedy created by the BP oil spill disaster.

Massive Attack's Robert "3D" Del Naja and Grant "Daddy G" Marshall will donate their Lincoln car commercial proceeds to Save Our Gulf, an initiative of the Waterkeeper Alliance. - more on this story

Aliens Remix Songs Sent Into Space in 1977

This one was just too fun to pass up, not that we believe the premise but it's fun. So here you go: In 1977, NASA launched the Voyager 1 & 2 spacecraft, fastening to each a phonograph album containing sounds and music of Earth. In 2010, the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence in Exile (SETI-X), a dissident offshoot of the better-known Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence, received transmissions believed to be extraterrestrial remixes of these records. The Scrambles of Earth CD contains the 70 minutes — in some 24 sound segments — that SETI-X has so far been able to reconstruct.

The scientists of SETI-X, finding their colleagues skeptical and their institutions unwilling to vouch for or make available the sounds they had received, at first sought contact with the principality of Sealand, in hopes that this micronation dedicated to stewarding controversial data might channel extraterrestrial sounds to a broader public. With no response from Sealand, SETI-X, through a serendipitous Google typo, discovered an ally in Seeland Records, which has historically brokered the release of sounds of uncertain provenance but wide cultural relevance.

Scrambles of Earth collects what appear to be "remixes" of the Voyager Record; although the evidence has yet to be fully evaluated, these may represent the first audio signs of alien intelligence. This account may comport with Hartwig Hausdorf's May 2010 claim that the Voyager has been hijacked by aliens, as reported in the UK's Telegraph newspaper. - more on this story

Family Force 5 and Forever The Sickest Kids Christmas Pageant

Just off a successful UK tour – including a stop to play the Sonisphere Festival – Family Force 5 is currently in the studio recording the band's third album, due out in early spring.
