Carrie Underwood Launching Temporary Home Fund For Flood Victims
Carrie Underwood and ACM Lifting Lives have committed seed funding to create the new ACM Lifting Lives Temporary Home Fund to support relief efforts for families devastated by the recent floods in Middle Tennessee.

The Fund takes its name from Underwood's co-penned hit song "Temporary Home," in acknowledgement of the immediate needs surrounding those impacted by the floods.

"ACM Lifting Lives received funds from the taping of the Brooks & Dunn special seven days ago, and as a nimble organization, we are eager to immediately give back to the communities in Middle Tennessee that were hit hardest," said Erin Spahn, Director of ACM Lifting Lives. "In addition, we approached Carrie about how she wanted to use the grants she would receive as our 2009 Entertainer of the Year, and she leapt at the chance to help people in need of shelter. Remix Peter Gabriel And Win
Indaba Music announce that Peter Gabriel has invited fans and fellow musicians to "scratch his back" by remixing his classic track, "Games Without Frontiers."

The "Games Without Frontiers" Remix Contest launched on May 20th, with a six-week submission period followed by a two-week public voting period. One lucky Grand Prize winner will be flown to London to spend a day mastering their remix at Gabriel's Real World Studios. The winning version of "Games Without Frontiers" will then be released as an official digital single on iTunes.

With this competition, Gabriel is continuing his interest in crowd-sourcing talented collaborators through technology, while Indaba community members have the opportunity to team up with one of music's biggest names. In the spirit of Gabriel's recent Scratch My Back album of cover songs, the "Games Without Frontiers" Remix Contest fits right in line with the singer's interest in a non-traditional covers record. Scratch My Back is the first part of a series of song exchanges in which Gabriel and other leading artists reinterpret each other's songs, and finds Gabriel performing personalized versions of tunes by David Bowie, Radiohead, Lou Reed, Neil Young, Arcade Fire, and more. Many of these artists, in turn, are recording reciprocal covers of Gabriel songs, which will follow on the forthcoming sequel, I'll Scratch Yours.

El-P Gets Instrumental
Rapper, producer and Def Jux founder El-P knows how to get to parts of the brain others can't. As a solo artist and frontman for seminal hip-hop group Company Flow or producer of Cannibal Ox, Cage, Mr. Lif, Aesop Rock, NIN, Beck, The Mars Volta (and many, many more), an El-P production can drive you to hide underneath the bed, punch a wall and nod your head all at the same time.

Which brings us to Weareallgoingtoburninhellmegamixxx3 (August 3rd, Gold Dust), the sort of, kind of but not really follow-up to his past two mixes of the same name previously released at live shows.

It's another unique release in the artist's catalog. In the tradition of Company Flow's Little Johnny From The Hospitul (1998), El's own Collecting The Kid (2005), and more recently Weareallgoingtoburninhellmeggamixxx2 (2007), Hell3 is a fully realized suite of instrumentals that continues to exemplify the producer's versatile, otherworldly, futuristic and wholly original sonic worldview. - more on this story

Tallest Trees Will Drop in August
Tallest Trees have crafted a debut that jumps out of the speakers with an unclassifiable melange of musical sounds. Part psychedelic, part electronic and wholly engaging, the band's inaugural full-length, The Ostrich or the Lark, will be unveiled August 17 via Other Electricities.

An album full of intentionally misplaced instruments, clashing harmonies, multidimensional arrangements and elements out of character, the pair's pop sensibility acts as the firm roots holding the wild sonic collage together.

Recorded mostly in the dining room of a log cabin in East Nashville, the duo of Thomas "Trees" Samuel and Dabney "Voice" Morris create rhythmically and melodically dense music, skirting the edges of genres, while seamlessly combining electronic sounds with acoustic elements. The end result is sweeping soundscapes with pop hooks that are at once familiar and inventive and instantly alluring. - more on this story
