David Banner and 9th Wonder Present Death of a Pop Star
David Banner and 9th Wonder, two of hip-hop's heavyweights, are teaming up for the collaborative album Death of a Pop Star slated to be released this summer on Big Face Entertainment.

Serving as the artists' first collaborative work together, Death Of A Pop Star offers fans of both David Banner and 9th Wonder a fresh and unique perspective on the music industry.

9th Wonder has a history of teaming with legendary emcees and crafting dream projects that have resulted in both critical and commercial success. With top-selling hit maker David Banner at his side, it's obvious that the respected producer's winning streak isn't slowing down. David Banner's most recent successes include writing, producing, and arranging (with guidance from Jimmy Smith and The G Team at Chalt Day) the new non-hip hop Gatorade theme song "Evolve," performed by Kermit Quinn. To some, pairing with Banner, who is also a celebrated producer in his own right, having produced smash hits like T.I.'s "Rubberband Man," might seem like an odd thing for 9th Wonder to do but this project was a wholly mutual vision between both artists. - more on this story

Necro Tells Haters To Die!
Necro is now letting loose of the title track from his forthcoming album, DIE! The artist admits crafting the song was a struggle behind the scenes as he battled severe laryngitis in the wake of a grueling tour schedule, and what he describes as "kicking brutal verses day after day." Possibly these hardships helped cement another underground classic from hip-hop's own Prince of Darkness.

The track doesn't stray far from Necro's lyrical reign of terror, another morsel in an impressive catalog of gritty New York rap the artist compares to a "gourmet dish." Self-produced as is every track on the album, "DIE!" begins with an ominous monologue about being brought back from the beyond, right before expertly chopped kicks and snares bolster a bouncing funk bass line.

A ghostly sampled chorus sails to the forefront urging all Necro's haters to... well... die. "The most enjoyable part is seeing it come to life: the beats, the rhymes... I love it," the reigning producer, who also contriubuted a beat to Raekwon's highly acclaimed Only Built For Cuban Linx II, beams. - more on this story

The Art Of Shooting A Japanese Video
The Art Of Shooting released their full-length debut Traveling Show last week and now offer the first video from the album with "Japanese."

The dreamy cut is a third-person omniscient narrative of one's self-imposed prisons that seem easy to escape to others, yet are horribly crippling from within.

Directed by Brooklyn filmmaker Scott Clemens, who's worked with Scout Niblett and Patrick Bower & the World Without Magic, "Japanese" shows the protagonist engulfing herself in a cocoon of string until a friend easily breaks away the barriers she created within herself.

Future Rock Announce Live Album
Future Rock are prepared to release a live album recorded in their hometown of Chicago during the Summer of 2009, that captures the raw energy of a live-electronic performance that packed the fair streets of their city, turning rooftops into dance floors and fans into maniacs hanging out of open windows.

The atmosphere and the songs-six of which have never officially been released are the best representation of Future Rock ever recorded. "Live in Wicker Park", set for a June 1st release, also features live remixes of Black Moth Super Rainbow and Death from Above 1979 that are sweeping proof of Future Rock's remarkable remix skills.

The live album is a 52 minute wall of sound that'll leave listeners wondering how three people create the rhythmic textures that seem to come from a small army, rather than just a trio. The album saunters in with the airy-house of "Understand the Sky" and sprints towards hyper speed down a rabbit hole for "Pedal Metal"- finding a way to go everywhere in between without losing the band's identity. - more on this story
