"So I have to admit, now, I do regret ever even singing that, because I have mad respect for her but at the time I was 15 and I didn't have the balls to not sing it, so I mean that is why it's not on my record, cuz I really can't stand by it." Dish Network and DirecTV are suing each other over recent advertisements. more. Having used both services, DirecTV offers more channels for less (asked Dish to match the price but they wouldn't). On a side note, a refund for close to half a month Dish TV service was never issued. Time Warner Cable TV service is another tale. Winner? Depends on what's important to you. -

Mixed Up Moby in May
On May 18th, Moby will release 'Wait For Me. Remixes!', an album consisting of reworked versions of tracks from the critically acclaimed 'Wait For Me', released through Mute last year. Moby has enlisted some of dance music's biggest names for the project including Tiesto, Laidback Luke, Gui Boratto, and Carl Cox.

Tiesto, on his remix..."Its always an honor to remix Moby. He's a legend and a true electronic music pioneer. I chose "Shot In The Back Of The Head" because it was a track that i'd always enjoyed and connected to emotionally. I wanted to do something a little tougher and darker with the remix. I'm really happy with how it came out."

Carl Cox commented, "Moby has been such a major part of the electronic scene its always a pleasure to work with him. "Walk with me" stood out instantly as a track on the album I wanted to remix with it's haunting vocal and spiritual sound, I wanted to really push my limits production wise with this remix. Bringing an electro tinge to the track and a constantly building drum infused bassline which really draws you in, this remix really stands out for me from the style of music I am normally associated with..."

Trek Life and J.Bizness Release Free 10 Song EP
West coast rapper Trek Life has teamed up with fellow left coast producer J.Bizness to release a brand new (and free) 10 song EP. Titled Rhymes Within Reason, the EP is produced entirely by the IllRegular Instrumentals producer, who laces Trek with his melodic yet raw production.

Complete with the heavy drums and gritty chops, he is quickly becoming known for thorough work with both Trek and others, including Ras Kass, LMNO, Buff1, and more. J.Bizness lays a backdrop perfectly suited for the west coast MC. Trek, who released an excellent album, New Money, in 2009, handles primary emcee duties on the project, as his straightforward, to-the-point lyricism and high-energy delivery carries listeners throughout the EP.

Trek uses the collection of songs to touch on concepts both gritty ("Stay Raw") and smooth ("K.I.S.S.") with ease. The EP features a number of other game-changers, including producer/MC and frequent collaborator Oddisee, as well as Wyann Vaughn, Richard Wright, Mykestro, and Ragen Fykes. Rhymes Within Reason is the first of three projects in 2010 for Trek, who will be working together with Mello Music Group to release entire projects with Oddisee (Everything Changed Nothing) and DJ Babu (Fire Outside).

Rhymes Within Reason is available for free download through Trek Life's BandCamp - page

Quadron Album Hits Stores Today
Quadron, a soulful, experimental duo from Copenhagen, Denmark whose track "Average Fruit" was a featured "Top Tune" artist of the day on acclaimed radio station KCRW, released its self titled debut today (March 23rd.)

"Morning Becomes Eclectic" and "Today's Top Tune" producer Ariana Morgenstern says of Quadron: "Danish duo Quadron provides a soulful mix of down-tempo beats with beautiful arrangements and orchestrations. Our intrepid DJ Anthony Valadez got his hands on an early copy and started slipping it into the mix here at KCRW. Soon enough, just about every DJ here got behind it."

Morgenstern praises the band's laid back, lounge sound for aptly representing a cross section of KCRW's eclectic music format. Other notable tastemakers that are fans include Pharrell Williams of N.E.R.D. and James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem, as well as Gilles Peterson of BBC radio who picked the track "Day" as one of his faves of 2009.

Serena Ryder and Ryan Star Hitting The Road
Atlantic recording artist Serena Ryder is about to embark on her first US headline tour with a full band and labelmate Ryan Star.

Ryder made a stunning chart entrance last November with her full-length label debut, "is it o.k." The highly praised album – which includes the hit singles, "Little Bit of Red" and "All For Love" – premiered at #1 on Billboard's "Heatseekers Albums" chart, marking the week's top-selling album by a new or developing artist. Sage Francis Teams with Amelie Composer Yann Tierson
The much anticipated new release Li(f)e by rapper Sage Francis, due out May 11th via Anti-Records, features more than a few inspired musical collaborations.

Yet none of them so seemingly unexpected and ultimately transcendent as the pairing on the track Best Of Times featuring Francis' extraordinary lyricism and the music of noted French composer Yann Tierson.

An intensely inventive classically based multi instrumentalist, Tierson is perhaps best known for creating the powerfully evocative soundtrack to the beloved 2001 French film "Amιlie." - more on this story

April Smith and the Great Picture Show Cancel Dates Due To Sick RV
April Smith and the Great Picture Show have unfortunately been forced to cancel their shows this week in St. Louis, Chicago, Cleveland and Pittsburgh due to mechanical difficulties with their tour vehicle.

The vehicle in question, a mischievous RV named Norman, has become enough of a recurring character in April Smith's tour chronicles that he's even got his own Twitter account (here)

Suffice to say, this may be the last nail in his coffin. Creative ideas for destroying a recreational vehicle are welcomed. Meanwhile, Smith and her band apologize to their fans in the Midwest, and regret the last-minute cancellations. - more on this story
