DJ Hero 2 Coming This Fall

Activision is eyeing a Fall release for DJ Hero 2. They sent over the following announcement with more details: Picking up where the award-winning DJ Hero soundtrack left off, DJ Hero 2 spins together the hottest tracks blazing up the charts and legendary club anthems from the biggest artists in pop, dance and hip hop including Dr. Dre, The Chemical Brothers, Kanye West, Metallica, Lady Gaga, Rihanna and over 85 others.

Fueling the party will be a host of all-new social multiplayer game modes and innovative freestyle gameplay giving virtual DJ's the ability to crossfade, scratch and sample in over 70 speaker-blowing mashups from the hottest DJ's and Producers around the world, including Deadmau5 – part of dance music's elite – who will be starring as an in-game playable character.

DJs Slam Jersey Shore's Pauly D

The nomination of Pauly D from MTV's Jersey Shore for America's Best DJ has the DJ community in an uproar.

The backlash started with J.R. Hutter, who said: "You guys are out of your mind putting "DJ" Pauly D on the list for America's Best DJ alongside some amazing DJs. Total disgrace! Tighten up!"

And then Z-Trip, last year's winner, although careful not to diss, made his thoughts abundantly clear: "START OF RANT," he wrote on Twitter. "Being last years winner, I have to say, it's a bit of a knock to all the OG's to include Pauly D on Americas Best DJ 2010 ballot. Not trying to dis, but the fact that he is on the list (alongside some DJ legends) is a bit sketchy. He hasn't earned that yet IMO." - more on this story

For those who don't know, Junior Vasquez is of the most renowned DJs/producers/remixers in dance music history. A co-founder of NYC's famed Sound Factory club, Vasquez became the DJ who debuted and tested the newest records (and broke many of them commercially) while being closely linked to celebrity fans such as Madonna.

Although it only lasted from 1989-1995, Junior Vasquez @ Sound Factory was monumental to the development of the New York sound and the mid/late-90's dance music explosion that soon followed. At his peak, Junior's sets were considered stuff of legend. - more on this story

Bobby Bare Jr. Returns with New Album

Bobby Bare Jr. has announced his first album nearly four years. A Storm A Tree-My Mother's Head will be released on August 31, 2010.

A Storm- A Tree-My Mother's Head was co-produced by Bare and David Vandervelde (Jay Bennett). Tom Blankenship (bass), Carl Broemel (guitar, steel) and Patrick Hallahan (drums) from My Morning Jacket, Matt Rowland (keys), all lend their musicianship in addition to co-writes on the album. Bobby Bare Sr. also contributes two co-writes.

In addition to recording his new album, Bare also produced a tribute album in memory of one of his close friends and mentors. Twistable, Turnable Man: A Tribute to the Songs of Shel Silverstein is Bare's largest musical project to date. Muchmusic Video Awards To Be Broadcast in the U.S.

MuchMusic have announced that Canada's biggest and baddest street party, 2010 Muchmusic Video Awards, will be simulcast south of the border on Fuse, Madison Square Garden's national music television network.

Now viewers across the U.S. can see all-star performers that include co-host Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, Adam Lambert, Ke$ha, Marianas Trench, Down With Webster, Drake and Hedley. The 2010 Muchmusic Video Awards airs live from MuchMusic's Toronto HQ on Sunday, June 20 at 9 p.m. ET.

Classic Out of Print Bobby Womack Album Being Reissued Next Week

Bobby Womack's 1985 album, Someday We'll All Be Free, will be released digitally by ABKCO Records next Tuesday, June 15th.

The album, on sale this month at all digital music retailers, has not been legitimately available for more than ten years and is considered a coda of sorts to Womack's epochal The Poet and The Poet II. Sessions for those two albums, originally released on the Beverly Glen label, are actually the source of the repertoire heard on Someday We'll All Be Free. ABKCO acquired the Beverly Glen Bobby Womack masters in 2008 and re-released The Poet I & II that year.

Someday We'll All Be Free takes its title from the Donny Hathaway song that kicks off the album that also includes Womack's version of "Searching For My Love," Bobby Moore & The Rhythm Aces' 1966 hit. Womack's original compositions included are "I'm So Proud," "Gifted One," "Falling In Love Again," and "I Wish I Had Someone To Come Home To," the latter a collaboration between Bobby Womack and his brother Cecil who were members of The Valentinos, the group that spawned "It's All Over Now, " the very first hit for the Rolling Stones. "I Wish I Had Someone To Come Home To" was produced by Bobby Womack, James Gadson and Andrew Loog Oldham, who was the original producer and manger of the Rolling Stones.
