Justin Currie, the former lead singer of Scottish pop-rock powerhouse Del Amitri, will release his second album The Great War on Ryko in May 2010. This record follows his 2007 solo debut, What Is Love For, acclaimed for its superb songcraft and somber brilliance. On The Great War, Currie returns with a fresh collection of infectious melodies and ingenious wordplay - a combination of dark lyrical themes melded with a newfound optimism. "Lyrically, more often than not, I seem to gravitate towards the ambiguity of feelings, the struggle with motivations and doubt in relationships, self-loathing and disappointment, but with a scintilla of hope, or at least catharsis. As a songwriter, I use melody to make all of this less maudlin, hopefully, and to create tension," states Currie. His first single "A Man With Nothing To Do" is a brilliant result of this craft. Currie evokes a sense of vivacity with its harmonious hooks and upbeat tempos, while at the same time, unveiling a certain complexity and suspicion with his solemn yet endearing lyrics.

Atlanta-based singer-songwriter and MySpace darling Nycole Valentina has inked a joint venture deal with Grammy-Nominated producer Armando Colon (Babyface, Lil Kim) and industry veteran Terrence Gittens (Backstreet Boys, N'Sync) as she prepares to release her new album, "The Revenge of Nycole Valentina." Valentina is one of the south's hottest young talents, and super-producer Colon will be working with her on a unique production deal for his company, Launchcode Entertainment, while 1st And 10 Entertainment CEO Gittens brought the talented 19-year-old in on the label side when Colon played him some of her music. Valentina first came to mainstream attention in the summer of 2008 when she performed on MTV's TRL, but has earned herself a cult following on MySpace over the years as a result of dynamic performances, catchy songs and some clever marketing. Her debut album is an energetic blend of Pop, RnB and Club music, inspired by contemporaries like Madonna, Brandy, Lady Gaga and the late Michael Jackson. The theme of the record is built around a broken heart, but Valentina is quick to point out that the angst isn't fueled by just the emotional rage from a romantic break-up. "It's really actually tied into my experiences with people in the industry, too" she says. "Bits and pieces of my personal life and the world in general find their way in, but I've been working to perfect this sort of sound since I was 8-years-old. The heartache, sweat and tears from years of competitions, good and bad relationships I've had and the belief in myself to succeed are what make this record. I have some feel-good, uplifting, edgy music and I think people will love it."
