Abba Reunion?
(Gibson) Will they or won't they take a chance? ABBA fans have been begging for a reunion for years. Now, Agnetha Fδltskog (one-fourth of the '70s Swedish supergroup) says she is open to reuniting with her old band mates for the first time in nearly three decades.

"A reunion, at a one-time occasion, perhaps for some benefit is something I think we all could consider," the flaxen-haired siren told Magasin M. "We will hardly reunite for a tour like The Rolling Stones and other old bands do. But I can consider us doing something in the future."

The jump-suited group last performed together on British TV in December 1982. The four members — Fδltskog, Anni-Frid "Frida" Lyngstad, Bjφrn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson — have repeatedly stated that they would never perform together again, having only appeared in public together on a handful of occasions (including the Swedish premiere of the film Mamma Mia!). When the group was inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame earlier this year, only Lyngstad and Andersson attended the ceremony. more on this story

Big In Japan Team Up With Celebration's Katrina Ford
(Submitted) Big In Japan have recorded several new songs, including two tracks ("What's On My Grave", "Mockingbird") graced by the vocal talents of Katrina Ford (Celebration).

Produced by Dave Fridmann (MGMT, The Flaming Lips), these two new songs were born of Big In Japan's collaboration with Ford during a summer residency series of shows last year. Citypaper music critic Al Shipley had opined that those live performances with Ford "sounded so great that one can only hope she and Big In Japan have plans to record some collaborations in the future."

Not only have these songs been captured in recorded format, but audiences will get to see Big In Japan play live with Ford again, this time at the Ottobar on Friday 1/7/2011. The band is targeting a release date for the new tracks sometime in 2011.

Day in Pop 2010 Rewind: Top Stories From October

We continue our look back at the top stories of 2010. Today we flashback to October

Open Letter To Kanye West
John-Michael Bond of The 1st Five has penned an open letter to Kanye West after West whined on Twitter about his near pornographic album cover being predictable "banned". John-Michael views the controversy in a different light and urges Kanye to stop complaining and use this to look to the greater good for music. He writes in part:

Naturally, being one of level head and quiet business sense, you have lashed out further on the social media network. "So Nirvana can have a naked human being on they cover but I can't have a PAINTING of a monster with no arms and a polka dot tail and wings," you asked. The answer Kanye is yes. Yes, Nirvana can have a naked human baby on the front of their album cover. But since the LA Times is reporting that the real issue with your album art is that places like Walmart might not stock it, might I make an observation.

You can't buy Nevermind by Nirvana at Walmart. You can get it from their online store, but at least up until a few years ago when I stopped going to Walmart the retail giant did not stock Nevermind. Explicitly because of that little baby wang. Even though it is one of the biggest selling albums of all time. Even though it was from a band who changed the face of music. They even edited the copies of Nirvana's album that they were willing to sell, In Utero, by changing the title of the song "Rape Me" to "Waif Me." Walmart doesn't care about artistic expression. This shouldn't be a surprise. - But there is a bigger problem and what should Kanye do about it?

Songwriters Vs The Black Eyed Peas
Miller Canfield put this announcement out on the wire about two lawsuits against The Black Eyed Peas: Two separate but related copyright infringement lawsuits were filed today in the United States District Court for the Central District of California against the members of the Black Eyed Peas and their record labels and publishers, including UMG Recordings and Interscope Records.

The songs involved in the suits are two internationally acclaimed hit songs that brought the Black Eyed Peas extraordinary profits and iconic success: "I Gotta Feeling" and "Boom Boom Pow."

One Complaint was filed in the Federal District Court in Orange County and alleges that the Black Eyed Peas intentionally and willfully copied a Texas songwriter, Bryan Pringle's song "Take a Dive" when they co-wrote and recorded their Grammy award-winning hit song, "I Gotta Feeling." As a result of the copying, "I Gotta Feeling," as a whole, is "substantially similar" to "Take a Dive," which was copyrighted by Pringle in 1998, and the leading melody contained in both songs, described in the Complaint as the "guitar twang sequence," is identical. A side-by-side comparison of both songs demonstrates that they sound virtually identical, the Complaint alleges. - more on this story

Season nine American Idol winner Lee DeWyze co-wrote all but one song on his debut album, Live It Up, and as such has become the very first American Idol winner to have writing credit on a first single.

"To see my name listed in the credits on each song was really important to me because I'm a songwriter," DeWyze says. "I also loved working with such talented writers. They all brought so much to the table and helped me flesh out my sound… I want people to relate to these songs," DeWyze explains.

"I love stories in songs and always try to write from an honest place. It's about capturing emotion, so that when you listen, it takes you back to that place. My best memories are all connected to music and I want to create those moments for other people." - more on this story

Lady Gaga Called A Plastic Doll And Challenged To TV Sing-Off
You don't see announcements like this everyday but a clever way for an unknown to get some attention: "I feel sorry for Lady Gaga - she's just a plastic doll generated by the music money marketing machine," says Los Angeles singer Alisa Apps who has challenged Lady Gaga to a nationally televised sing-off, with a cash prize of at least $1 million for the winner.

As part of the sing-off, each artist would perform a series of songs in front of a live audience at either Madison Square Garden in New York or the O2 Arena in London.

"I stand for the voice of your heart. Be real with me. Come to my world and feel. I want to hear you and for you to hear me. This contest gives people a chance to choose which they prefer – plastic or real," says Apps. - more on this story

James Blunt's new album "Some Kind Of Trouble" will be released in the U.S. on January 25th, 2011.

Produced by Steve Robson (with additional production from The Bird & the Bee's Greg Kurstin, and Eg White), the album marks a new chapter for Blunt, who sees his internationally successful first two albums as a kind of matched pair – action and reaction.

"The second album was quite introverted," he says. "It was about perception. But these new songs are not about fame and celebrity – they're about reality. I've been hanging out with my friends, writing songs about the world we live in, and where we want to go." - more on this story

Ziggy Marley Releases Free Marijuana Anthem
Ziggy Marley releases his latest song, a pro-hemp/marijuana anthem entitled "A Fire Burns For Freedom." This song will be offered as a free download for listeners, as part of a larger set of free downloads, called the Wild and Free Singles, offered by the reggae star and his record label, Tuff Gong Worldwide.

The Wild and Free Singles, available at www.ziggymarley.com, are a collection of free downloads which not only describes the free download of the song, but also what Ziggy believes should be the natural state of marijuana and its related plant hemp.

"We need to enlighten people about the multiple uses the plant has beyond its recreational, spiritual and medicinal uses. This plant in both its forms, hemp and marijuana, is a gift from nature to us. It has medicinal value, environmental value, nutritional value, as well as energy value. The seeds of the plant could cheaply provide nutrition for malnourished children all over the world. We should free the plant in all aspects of its uses," says Ziggy. - more on this story
