Rachael Yamagata Hits The Road With Swell Season
Warner Bros. reports: Rachael Yamagata will hit the road as a very special guest of Irish band Swell Season for a fall U.S. tour of intimate theaters that begins November 12th and finishes up on December 5th. Yamagata has spent the last few months writing the follow-up to her Warner Bros. Records debut album Elephants…Teeth Sinking Into Heart.

Elephants…Teeth Sinking Into Heart was released on October 7th, 2008. The follow-up to Yamagata's 2004 full-length debut Happenstance, Elephants…Teeth Sinking Into Heart was praised by such media outlets as Entertainment Weekly ("Yamagata's delivery is gorgeous"), People ("an ambitious double disc"), and Spin ("add some cheap scotch and you've got a John Cassavetes movie").

Of the album's 15 tracks, Nebraska-based Mike Mogis, the multi-instrumentalist and producer known for his work with Bright Eyes, Rilo Kiley and The Faint, produced 12. Two tracks were produced by John Alagia (John Mayer, Dave Matthews Band), who also produced Happenstance. The album also features guest appearances by singer-songwriters Ray Lamontagne and Azure Ray's Maria Taylor.

Thea Gilmore Releasing Holiday Album
PR reports: Thea Gilmore releases a holiday collection Strange Communion, November 3 via Rykodisc. This carefully crafted album is a stirring, poignant journey into the heart of the winter season filled with twists and turns of celebration, introspection and often skepticism. With deep humanist joy at its core, Strange Communion reflects on the rituals and contradictions that come with the trimmings of the holidays.

From the choral splendor of "Sol Invictus", her acappella opening ode with the award-winning Sense Of Sound choir, to the ethereal beauty of "Midwinter Toast" and "December in New York", to cover versions of obscure songs by Elvis Costello (The St. Stephens Day Murders") and Yoko Ono ("Listen The Snow Is Falling"), Gilmore's crystalline voice and dazzling lyrics shine throughout this collection. Rounding off the festivities on a cheerful note, the catchy single "That'll Be Christmas" indubitably adds more spice into the mix as Gilmore lightheartedly sings "French beer and mistletoe…faith, hope and gluttony…me missing you again, that'll be Christmas."

Raspberry Brothers Vs Jason This Friday The 13th
Knitting Factory reports: On Nov. 14th, the Raspberry Brothers, a team of NYC comedians, will be mocking the 1980s horror flick Friday the 13th, part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan, live at the Knitting Factory. The Knitting Factory will put three of the city's best comics against Jason to see if the microphone is mightier than the bloody hatchet!

This will be the first in a series of regular Raspberry Brothers performances at the new Brooklyn venue, with multiple shows coming up in the calendar until a regular weekly time slot can be secured. Over the past year, the Raspberry Brothers have been honing their commentary skills in NYC at the Chelsea Cinemas with films like Top Gun, Garden State, and Snakes on a Plane. Now, the troupe is psyched to bring the show to their home turf and take some cheap shots at one of film history's most laughably dull monsters, Jason Vorhees.

"Where comedy is concerned, it's hard to go wrong with a cast of writers whose credits include both SNL and the Onion. The Bros. bring their movie commentary A-game" –Flavorpill

Trinity Pays Homage To DJ Roc Raida With New Single
Audible Treats reports: For those wondering where hip-hop's next super group is, Trinity has come to quell all inquiries. The triumvirate consists of AG, Sadat X, and DJ Jab and delivering raw, uncut hip-hop is priority number one on their list.

After making their first performance appearance as a group at the recent Audible Treats CMJ '09 Showcase, Trinity is gearing up for an album release in 2010 via Fat Beats Records. In the meantime, the trio has come together to release their first single ever as a group, and with that single they chose to pay homage to the late, great DJ Roc Raida with "Roc Raida Tribute."

The song is compromised of two different break beats, bringing forth classic hip-hop nostalgia fitting for one of the game's most respected DJ's ever. AG and Sadat X flow effortlessly over the golden age inspired beat and reminisce on Roc Raida and his unparalleled talents. Lines like, "And his name is Roc / International so his name won't stop, " and "They thought we had a bandstand and grand slam / Even Japan fans loved his hands" show the love that AG, Sadat X, and fans worldwide have for Roc Raida. - more on this story
