Doc Overdosed Michael Jackson
AP reports: Michael Jackson's personal doctor administered a powerful anesthetic to help him sleep, and authorities believe the drug killed the pop singer, a law enforcement official told The Associated Press on Monday.

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing, also provided a glimpse inside Jackson's rented mansion, describing the room Jackson slept in as outfitted with oxygen tanks and an IV drip. Another of his bedrooms was a shambles, with clothes and other items strewn about and handwritten notes stuck on the walls. One read: "children are sweet and innocent."

The official said Jackson regularly received propofol to sleep, relying on the drug like an alarm clock. A doctor would administer it when he went to sleep, then stop the intravenous drip when he wanted to wake up. On June 25, the day Jackson died, Dr. Conrad Murray gave him the drug through an IV sometime after midnight, the official said. - A lot more on this story

Mariah Carey, Diddy, Lil Wayne Albums Delayed
Reuters reports: Some of the most highly anticipated albums of the summer have been delayed, including Mariah Carey's "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel," Sean "Diddy" Combs' "Last Train to Paris" and Lil Wayne's rock and roll album "Rebirth."

Carey's "Memoirs," first slated for an August 25 release via Island Def Jam, will instead be available September 15, according to the Universal Music Group business-to-business website. Carey's new single, "Obsessed," is at No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week.

Combs said via a video interview with MTV News released last week that his project has been delayed partially because it's "Jay-Z time and Drake time -- enjoy those guys. But the 'Train' is coming, baby," he warned. "Get your ticket, you don't want to be left out." - more on this story

Katy Perry Wakes Up in Vegas And Goes Unplugged For MTV
EMI reports: What wakes up in Vegas...couldn't possibly remain a secret, if it has anything to do with Katy Perry, the Capitol Records multi-platinum singer-songwriter who has completely captured the fun, the rhythm, the smarts, the look and the sound of our times in her smash debut album One Of The Boys.

Waking Up In Vegas, the fourth hit single from the album, is this week's No. 1 most-played record on the mainstream top 40 pop radio stations across the country, an extraordinary feat of late-game staying power for Perry, whose story began, amazingly, a full fourteen months ago with the official release of Katy's first worldwide No. 1 hit, "I Kissed a Girl." With the album's second single, "Hot N Cold," also a No. 1 in the format, Perry is only the fourth artist in the history of Billboard's mainstream top 40 airplay chart to have scored three No. 1s from a debut album: Katy joins Ace of Base, Avril Lavigne and Lady GaGa in this accomplishment.

Perry has also completed taping an episode of MTV's signature Unplugged series for cablecast this year, and shot a special in-studio performance for Clear Channel Radio's online Stripped feature. And she continues to dominate the magazine covers of 2009, most recently Billboard, Paper, Seventeen, Cosmopolitan and Complex. Also in the upper reaches of the national pop chart, Perry is the co-writer of Kelly Clarkson's current single, "I Do Not Hook Up," from the No. 1 album, All I Ever Wanted. - more on this story

Wyclef Jean Recordings With Twits
PR reports: Wyclef Jean produced and recorded remixes to his recently released song "More Bottles" with the eight winners of his "More Bottles Remix" competition announced through his Twitter and WyclefJean.com websites.

Fans submitted 30 second "Bubble Tweet" videos and the eight winners were invited to his Platinum Sound recording studio Saturday where they spent the day recording remixes. Wyclef's version will be available through on Itunes in August and featured on both a forth-coming mix tape this September with DJ Drama and the upcoming LP, "Wyclef Jean" in January 2010.

Jean's popularity on Twitter has grown at a staggering pace after he began "Tweeting" only recently when Twitter Founder Evan Williams and investor Chris Sacca set up his Twitter account on stage while performing at one of his San Francisco concerts in late April of this year. Jean's followers on Twitter have grown to over 600,000 in just 12 short weeks.

OohLaLA Festival
PR reports: The OohLaLA Festival is bringing a bit of la France to L.A. this fall and no passport is required. The first edition of the three-day French music showcase will take over the Henry Fonda Theatre, September 23-25. This cultural import is the brainchild of French music industry veterans and will be presented/executive produced by Goldenvoice, the creators of the Coachella Music and Arts Festival and All Points West. Tickets will be available via Ticketmaster and go on sale Saturday, August 1st at 10 am.

Spanning three nights, the festival will bridge two continents, highlighting the current French music scene in the U.S. with a series of performances running the gamut from hard-hitting electro to more traditional fare. September 23 and 24 will be devoted exclusively to emerging talent from the indie pop/rock and folk scenes, including performances from dance-pop provocateur Sιbastien Tellier, whose latest album, Sexuality, was produced by Daft Punk's Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo; piano aficionado Gonzales, the multi-faceted virtuoso, who is equal parts powerful crooner and hip-hop singer, as well as Grammy-nominated arranger/producer for Feist; and Cocoon, a male/female folk duet from the Auvergne mountains, whose music echoes American folk greats such as Elliott Smith and Sufjan Stevens.

Night number two will belong to the radical, loungey reinterpretations of Nouvelle Vague, as the collective led by producer Marc Collin presents "Hollywood, Mon Amour," a tribute to 1980s film soundtracks. The band will put their spin on such classics as "Eye of the Tiger," "Flashdance... What A Feeling" and James Bond's "A View To A Kill." The Dψ, a Finnish girl/French boy duo with panoramic cultures and 2008 sensation in France, will kick off the evening alongside electro-pop chanteuse Emilie Simon, a multi-French Music Award winner and composer of the "March of the Penguins" soundtrack, now based in New York. - more on this story

Bill Champlin Plots Bichin Tour
PR reports: Bill Champlin will launch the "BICHIN" West Coast tour on November 6th at the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano, CA. The tour is in support of Champlin's upcoming record, No Place Left to Fall, which marks his first solo album in over 10 years. It will be released on August 4th by indie label DreamMakers Music and has already been serviced to radio.

A founding member of the legendary San Francisco band Sons of Champlin and a singer-songwriter with six critically acclaimed solo albums to his credit, Champlin relishes the opportunity to return to his old stomping grounds on this tour.

"A few years ago, I was signing a stack of press photos and going through them at such a clip, I was using only two letters from each name - and I realized that I was signing 'BICH,'" recalls Champlin. "I'm really looking forward to spending some time with fans and hearing what they think of the new music. And I'll be BICHIN whatever they want me to on this tour!"

Terrell Owens' Struggle
Vh1 reports: "The T.O. Show" follows NFL superstar Terrell Owens as he tries to shed his notoriously outspoken persona of "T.O." and show the world his softer side.

This week his journey continues in an emotionally-charged episode. No man is complete without his roots, so Terrell travels back to his hometown to visit some of the key players and places that shaped him.

Inspired by Mo's efforts to connect with the half sister she's never met, Terrell packs his bags and flies (with Mo and Pablo, of course) to his hometown of Alexander City, Alabama.

Ray LaMontagne Fall Tour
Big Hassle reports: Ray LaMontagne announced his North American fall tour schedule today, starting with two dates with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra on October 15 in North Bethesda, MD followed by an October 16 show at Meyeroff Symphony Hall. Following the orchestra shows, LaMontagne's next dates will offer a polar opposite experience in which the Maine singer-songwriter will play stripped-down solo acoustic shows, starting November 1 at Atlanta's Fox Theatre.

LaMontagne is also working with Tickets-for-Charity to offer fans a unique opportunity to buy front row seats while supporting leading charities. A portion of each package purchased on TicketsforCharity.com will automatically benefit The National Children's Cancer Society plus up to three partner charities of the fan's choice. LaMontagne is proud to be collaborating with this charitable platform to provide fans with an easy way to access prime concert seats while supporting the causes they care about in the process.

This will not be the first time LaMontagne has played accompanied by an orchestra; he recently appeared in front of a sold-out crowd earlier in July at the Hollywood Bowl with the Bowl's Orchestra.
